Chapter 566: Pregnant Women Need Protection
Caleb shrugged, "Hey, as the most loyal dude on the planet, what do I gotta be scared of? Ever since I met you, all those other chicks are just a blur. Go ahead, ask me anything, but I won't remember squat."
Susan chuckled, "Mr. Eilish, are you faking amnesia or what?"
"Nope, straight-up truth. The first girl a guy falls for is his real first love." Caleb said it like he meant it, but Susan thought he was just messing around.
"Seriously? You expect me to buy that?" Susan's face screamed skepticism.
"Yep, it's legit. You better believe it. I've only ever loved you, so you're my one and only. You're my ride-or-die, the one I'll grow old with."
"Don't get ahead of yourself. What if some younger, hotter girl comes along and you change your mind?" Susan knew he loved her now, but life’s a long road with lots of twists.
"Not gonna happen."
"Yeah, right. I'm pushing twenty-eight, and in a couple of years, I'll hit thirty. Guys in their 30s and 40s age like fine wine, but us girls, not so much."
"Wow, I hear some serious worry there. Even the mighty Ms. Wilson has her doubts. But hey, who can blame you when your guy's a rich, handsome heartthrob? Your worries make sense." Caleb nodded like he was all serious. "But as your man, I gotta say, you’re worrying for nothing. Now or in the future, the only one in my heart is Susan. If I ever change my mind, let me..."
Susan slapped her hand over his mouth, "Are you nuts? Making vows like it's the 1800s!"
"You don't believe me, so I gotta make a vow."
"Don't you know guys shouldn't make vows all willy-nilly? It might actually come true." Susan laughed.
"I'm not like other guys. Every promise I make is solid. Don't you trust me?"
"I do. But life's long, so let's not rush into promises. Let's take it one step at a time, cool?"
"Cool." Caleb's fingers laced with hers, "If it's with you, I can't wait to start the rest of my life."
Susan beamed, "Me too. I’m so pumped, feels like the future’s all sunshine and rainbows."
"So, to kickstart our future, marry me soon, okay?"
Susan's heart melted, "Mr. Eilish, is this a proposal?"
"I've asked a million times, just waiting for your yes."
"Not exactly the most formal proposal."
"Didn't the ring last time count?"
Susan thought for a sec, "Okay, that counts."
She didn't need candlelight dinners, big fireworks, or everyone’s envy. She wanted a love that was just them, cozy and happy.
"Then marry me soon, or else it’ll look weird wearing a wedding dress with a baby bump."
Susan rolled her eyes but laughed, "Are you blackmailing me? Keep it up, and I'll make you wait until the kid can walk before we tie the knot."
"Baby, I'm sorry, I wouldn't dare. Please, marry me soon, my heart can't take the wait."
"I'll think about it."
"How long you need to think?"
"I'll let you know when I decide. It's late, let's hit the sack."
"Answer me first, how long."
"Caleb, I'm so sleepy..."
"Wow, using me and then tossing me aside, huh? Spill it, how long."
"I'm really sleepy..."
"Come on, babe..."
"Caleb, you're so annoying."
"If you don't tell me, no sleep for you." With that, Caleb started kissing her all over again.
Susan was about to lose it. She seriously considered kicking Caleb out of bed!
After a long night, Susan finally drifted off. When she woke up in the morning, Caleb was already gone.
"Caleb? Caleb?" Susan found her nightgown in the closet, got dressed, and walked out of the room, only to find him making breakfast.
She had to admit, there's nothing hotter than a guy making breakfast in the morning.
Of course, it helped that he had that handsome face and killer height.
Susan leaned against the wall, watching him for a bit before hugging him from behind.
"Morning."
"Morning, sleepyhead." Caleb was frying eggs.
Susan squinted her eyes, lazily pressing her face against his back. She was still a bit groggy.
"What's up? Still half-asleep? Want to catch some more Z's? I'll bring breakfast to the room later."
"It's all your fault, making me so tired." Susan's complaint had a playful tone.
Meanwhile, Caleb was full of energy, looking fresh as a daisy.
Susan was a bit jealous of his endless energy.
"I was the one putting in the work last night, why are you the tired one?" Caleb teased.
"Don't you know women can't stay up late? I'm going home tonight, I can't get any rest with you around."
"My bad, tonight we'll hit the sack early. I promise you'll be out by eleven, deal?"
But it sounded like there'd still be a few hours of "activity" before sleep. Susan was already feeling the strain. It was exhausting, and she was pregnant, needing special care.
"No way, it's too much, my body can't take it."
"That's not what you said last night, you said it felt great."
"You, so cheeky first thing in the morning." Susan pinched his waist, but it was all muscle, rock solid.
They say men face a midlife crisis in their thirties, including gaining weight and getting a big belly, but not Caleb.
His body was still as lean as a guy in his twenties, but more solid and strong. Truly, an exceptional man in every way.
How could she resist such a man's charm?
"Just keeping it real, what, not recognizing me after having a good time?" Caleb smiled and tapped her nose. "You think I'll let you go back to your place to sleep? This is your home now, we'll go to your parents' place and move everything here."
"Isn't that a bit fast?"
"One kid's already here, and another's on the way, fast? Silly."
Susan thought for a moment, "Living together is a big deal. Give me some time to think about it, okay?"
"Okay, since you asked, how can I say no?" Caleb smiled, "But today is Saturday, you gotta stay here tonight, deal?"
"Alright, alright, let's compromise. I'll go wake Oliver and Candy."
"Okay."
Susan knocked on the door, "Oliver, Candy, you guys up?"
"Yeah, we're awake. Mommy, come in." Oliver answered energetically.
