Chapter 840 A Sweet Midnight Snack
Juniper completed her resignation procedures from Harmony City that week and started as the Deputy General Manager in the Cooper Group's business division on Monday.
She was guided by a talented young man in his thirties named Kieran Morgan, who had returned from studying abroad and was now the company's General Manager.
"Ms. Cooper," Kieran greeted her politely.
"Please don't call me Ms. Cooper. There's no Ms. Cooper here, only your student, Juniper."
Juniper added, "Mr. Morgan, please take care of me in the future. I lack experience, so if I do anything wrong, don't hesitate to point it out directly. That way, I can improve. Please don't hold back because of my other identity."
"I'm very strict, are you sure?"
Juniper nodded, "Strict is good."
"Well, you don't need to worry. I've reviewed your resume. Although you haven't worked for long, you've handled major projects and completed them very well. I know Jack from Harmony City, and he speaks highly of you. I believe you have the capability to handle the Deputy General Manager position."
"Thank you for having confidence in me. I will do my best not to let you down."
A new position, a new company, and a new environment made Juniper very excited and full of energy.
"By the way, only you know about my identity in the entire company. I hope you can keep it a secret."
"Okay."
Busy times always fly by quickly. Before she knew it, Juniper had already been working at the Cooper Group for a week, and she was very busy every day.
Kieran taught her hands-on, and Juniper learned diligently. The two worked well together.
At ten o'clock in the evening, the light in Juniper's office was still on.
She was working hard in front of the computer, rubbing her temples.
Her phone screen lit up.
Seeing the photo on the screen, a smile appeared on Juniper's tense face, "Anthony."
"Still at the office? It's already ten o'clock."
"I can't help it; there's too much new stuff to learn. I've been busy until eleven these past few days."
"Don't work too hard."
"It's not too hard. After all, I'm young and healthy. A good night's sleep and I'll be full of energy the next day. Isn't there a saying? 'If you don't work hard when you're young, when will you? When you're old, you won't be able to even if you want to.'"
"You don't need to work as hard as others because your husband can support you."
Juniper chuckled, "Calling yourself my husband already? I haven't agreed yet."
"Do you think you can get away?"
"Not necessarily. What if someone more handsome, richer, and more charming comes along..." she teased him.
"You still wouldn't leave."
"How do you know?"
"Because you love me, and I love you," Anthony said tenderly.
"You're annoying," Juniper laughed sweetly.
"How about we meet?"
"Now? It's late, maybe next time."
"Don't you miss me? We haven't seen each other for a week."
"Of course I miss you, but what can I do? I'm busy with work, and you're busy too. Plus, we have to consider your dad..." Speaking of it, Juniper missed him even more.
When busy, she could numb herself with work, but once she had free time, especially hearing his gentle voice, she missed him terribly.
"Don't think about it too much. Do you miss me?"
"Yes, very much," Juniper said passionately.
"Do you want to see me right now?"
"Of course, if you could appear in front of me in a second, that would be great."
"Alright, I'm downstairs."
"What?" Juniper jumped up excitedly, holding her stomach, "You're downstairs at my office?"
"Yes, I brought you some late-night snacks. Come down."
"Okay, wait for me, I'll be right down."
Juniper couldn't care less about work now. She was so excited and eager to see him. She quickly packed her things into her bag and went downstairs.
As soon as she walked out, she saw Anthony leaning against the car, waving the takeout in his hand.
"Surprised?"
"Very surprised!" Juniper ran towards him, hopping with joy.
"Wait a moment before eating," Anthony suddenly pulled her into his arms, "Let me hug you first. I missed you so much."
"Me too." Seeing him, she was so excited that she almost cried.
Oh no, she thought, if she missed him this much after just a week, what would happen if they didn't see each other for a month?
Juniper was immensely grateful that they were in the same city and not in a long-distance relationship.
Being in the same city with the person you love, being able to see them whenever you want, is such a blessing.
She loved him so much.
After a long hug, they finally separated.
Anthony brushed her hair aside and gently kissed her forehead, "Let's eat the late-night snack."
They sat on a bench by the roadside.
"I had a sandwich around eight, but I'm hungry again. I've been eating a lot lately, probably because..."
Juniper quickly stopped herself, almost letting it slip.
If she mentioned the pregnancy now, Anthony would definitely tell his dad. She didn't want Ruben to accept her just because of the baby; she wanted him to accept her for who she was, Juniper.
"What?"
"Nothing. I mean, it's probably because I've been too tired lately, reading too many documents, and using too much brainpower, so I get hungry easily."
"I told you not to overwork yourself. You always agree on the phone but don't listen." Anthony lightly flicked her forehead.
Juniper rubbed her head and stuck out her tongue, "I want to, but when I'm busy, I can't help it. You know, I was parachuted into this Deputy General Manager position. I don't know anything about the company. If I don't absorb everything quickly, people will criticize me."
"Still, you need to take care of yourself. Work is never-ending, but your health is your own. Let the men handle the hard work of supporting the family. You can work if you like, or not if you don't. It's up to you."
"What about the Cooper Group?"
"I'll find someone to manage it for you."
Juniper pinched his chin, "Hmm? Are you trying to take my money and steal my company?"
Anthony chuckled, "The company is nothing compared to you. I only want you."
She was, of course, joking. The Cooper Group was not even one percent of the Eilish Group, but Anthony could still say such sweet words.
But being in love with someone you like is already a sweet thing, even without any sweet talk. Just looking at him made her heart overflow with happiness.
"My boyfriend is so cute. Come here, give me a kiss." Juniper offered her red lips and kissed him.
Anthony's lips curled up, "Let's eat the ravioli first, or it'll get cold."
He fed her a ravioli, "Is it good?"
"Delicious," Juniper said, smiling as she chewed, "Just like you."
"Really? How am I delicious?" Anthony's eyes heated up.
