Chapter 730 Will Definitely Miss Him
Terry hesitated for a moment, frowned, and reluctantly took out his phone.
"You really want me to go to jail? Anthony, everything I did was for you. You can't do this to me," Mira cried.
She was scared and regretful. "I don't want to go to jail, Anthony. Please, let me go. My parents still rely on me. So I can't go to jail. I've been so good to you. You can't do this to me. Anthony, I really love you."
Mira was in tears.
Terry couldn't bear it. On a professional level, Mira was his capable assistant, and over the years, they had built a revolutionary friendship. She had made countless contributions.
On a personal level, he saw Mira as a sister and couldn't bear to see her suffer.
Terry said, "Mr. Eilish, since the matter is already in the past, why not just fire her? Anyway, once the word gets out, she won't be able to find a job in this city anymore. That punishment is enough."
"Besides, what she suffered at Bennie's was already bad enough. So there's no need to push her to the brink."
Terry looked at Juniper. "What do you think?"
Now, only Juniper could save Mira. A single word from Juniper could change Anthony's decision.
Anthony also looked at her.
Juniper's eyes showed hesitation, and she frowned, struggling.
But a few seconds later, she said, "Everyone must pay for what they have done, especially since she still doesn't realize her mistake. Let the law decide her fate."
Juniper was never one to be overly compassionate.
Terry felt a wave of disappointment and sympathy for Mira. But Juniper's decision was understandable.
The victim had the right to seek justice which meant following the legal route.
He had done all he could to plead for Mira, but it was to no avail.
Mira's face turned ashen.
She had guessed that Juniper wouldn't save her. They had such deep grudges before; Juniper would love to stomp her to death, so how could she possibly help her?
She hated Juniper to the core. But she was helpless and could only shed tears of despair.
Soon, Mira was taken away by the police.
In the office.
"Thank you, Mr. Eilish," Juniper said gratefully.
Although she said she didn't care about clearing her name, she really didn't want to leave with a bad reputation.
Now she could leave with dignity and a clear conscience, without any burden.
"I promised you," Anthony said with a manly tone.
"Thank you." Juniper never doubted that Anthony was a man of his word, especially when it came to promises made to her.
"Are you still going to resign?" Anthony couldn't help but ask. He still wanted to keep her, following his strong inner desire.
He didn't want to let her go just like that.
"Yes. These are two unrelated matters. My decision to resign will not change," Juniper tried to appear firm.
The more she wanted to waver, the less she could afford to.
Once she wavered, she would be finished.
Anthony felt a wave of disappointment, but he was not willing to give up. "Is there any way to make you stay? Tell me."
It was clear that he was trying hard to keep her. Was she that important to him?
Juniper trembled at the thought.
No, she couldn't consider that question.
Whether she was important or not, it couldn't affect her decision to resign.
"Mr. Eilish, my decision is final. I have two more days," Juniper said with a determined attitude.
Anthony moved his lips. "Really... not going to reconsider?"
Juniper shook her head. "Mr. Eilish, thank you for recognizing my work."
Anthony frowned and thought, 'She clearly knows that my attempt to keep her has nothing to do with work; it's because I like her and that I can't bear to let her go. She knew it all! But she pretends not to understand. Because she's avoiding her feelings for me.'
"Juniper..." Anthony was almost pleading.
"Mr. Eilish, I still have some handover work to complete. So I'll go out first," Juniper nodded and exited.
She didn't give him a chance to speak, even though his eyes were filled with deep emotion, trying to keep her.
As soon as Juniper walked out the door, she ran into Terry.
Terry looked a bit gloomy.
"Terry, do you think I was too harsh?" Juniper asked.
Terry shook his head. "Although I feel a bit sorry for Mira, as she had a bright future and could have become the chief secretary, you are right. As an adult, she knew the consequences but still chose to do it, so she must bear the consequences."
Terry could be emotional too. But as an employee of the Eilish Group, he had to stand on the side of reason. Wrong was wrong, and Mira must be held accountable.
"How did your talk with Mr. Eilish go? Are you still determined to resign? But hasn't this matter been cleared up?"
Terry sighed, "Mr. Eilish really put a lot of effort into this. He reminded me every day to find out the truth as soon as possible. He never doubted you for a moment and always believed in your innocence."
Juniper replied, "I know, and I'm very grateful to him."
"It's not just about gratitude. Let me be blunt, watching you two like this makes me anxious. You like Mr. Eilish, and Mr. Eilish likes you. You clearly have feelings for each other, so why torture each other? I really don't get it."
"Maybe it's just not meant to be," Juniper smiled faintly. "Not every relationship has a result. Life always has its misses and regrets."
"Then I don't understand this logic even more. Why must there be regrets? Wouldn't it be better to be together? I'm more than ten years older than you and have seen more things than you. Meeting someone is not easy, so don't give up so easily. You must fight for it," Terry advised earnestly.
Juniper smiled. "Thank you. I'll get back to work now."
It seemed her mind was made up, and Terry shook his head helplessly.
Juniper returned to her workstation, surrounded by all kinds of strange looks.
"I never thought Mira was the one who stole the contract. If it weren't for the photos on the forum, I would have thought she was framed."
"Why did she do it? She ruined her own future. Turns out she was the one who hated Juniper the most, but she got caught."
"They couldn't find out anything for days, but this time they found out in one day. Is it because Juniper is resigning? I thought she was really going to leave, but it turns out she just wanted to make Mr. Eilish anxious. I didn't expect Mr. Eilish to really get anxious."
"It seems Mr. Eilish cares about her more than we thought. Those photos on the forum were posted specifically to prove her innocence."
"Yes, I think so too."
"So, is she not leaving anymore?"
"Who knows. She always has so many tricks up her sleeve."
"Ever since she came, our company has been in turmoil. Even someone as capable as Mira was taken down by her. She really brings bad luck."
Juniper smiled calmly and thought, 'See, this is human nature. In the end, they all blame me, making it my fault.'
But what they said wasn't the most important thing. The important thing was that her innocence was proven. Who would want to leave with a bad reputation?
It was Anthony who saved her reputation, allowing her to leave the company with dignity, without being pointed at.
She was very grateful to him.
Juniper silently looked towards the office, lost in thought. Only when the blinds were down did she dare to keep looking.
After leaving this city, she would definitely miss him from thousands of miles away.
