Chapter 685 You Have No Experience?
After work, Juniper dragged herself home and flopped onto the bed. After a bit, she finally mustered the energy to get up and whip up some pasta to kill the hunger.
She shuffled to the kitchen, grabbed some tomatoes and eggs, and started boiling water when the doorbell rang.
Peeking through the peephole, she saw it was that jerk Ronnie.
Ronnie hadn't bothered to call or pick her up after work today. She'd enjoyed the peace, but now he was here, ruining it. So annoying.
Juniper held her breath, stayed still, and pretended she wasn't home.
But the doorbell kept ringing.
"Juniper, open up. I know you're in there. I saw your shadow," Ronnie called out.
Juniper quickly stepped back.
"Why are you running? I heard your footsteps," Ronnie continued.
Juniper decided to keep up the act.
"Open the door. I need to pee. If you don't open up, I'll pee right here at your door!" Ronnie shouted.
Typical Ronnie, saying whatever popped into his head. Juniper was even more speechless.
"Hurry up. I really need to pee," he insisted.
"Then go ahead and pee at the door," Juniper shot back, not believing he'd actually do it.
"Alright! You said it. Don't blame me." Ronnie started to unzip his pants.
He wouldn't dare... would he?
"Okay, stop!" Juniper hurriedly opened the door.
"Trying to outsmart me?" Ronnie looked smug.
"How can someone as shameless as you, a rich guy with status, actually pee at someone's door? That's too much," Juniper snapped.
"What else could I do? You wouldn't open the door." Ronnie pinched her cheek.
Juniper slapped his hand away. "Don't touch me with the hand you used to unzip your pants. It's gross."
"I didn't actually pee," Ronnie said with a cheeky grin.
"Why did you suddenly come over?" Juniper asked.
"Isn't it dinner time? Of course, I'm here to mooch a meal."
"Don't you have food at your own place? I'm not your chef," Juniper rolled her eyes.
"Aren't you living in my house? Since you won't repay me with your body, you can at least cook for me. Besides, I drove four hours to get back here for a meal. Don't you feel sorry for me?" Ronnie retorted.
"Four hours?"
"Yeah, I went to another city for a meeting," Ronnie replied.
Usually, for meetings that far away, he'd stay overnight. Driving eight hours round trip was too exhausting.
"Why do you keep running around? Just stay there," Juniper said.
"I was afraid you'd think I was seeing other women over there, so I rushed back to prove my innocence."
Juniper immediately made a stop gesture. "No, you really don't need to prove anything to me. You can see a hundred women for all I care."
"Don't think I don't know women. You say you don't care, but deep down you care a lot, right?"
"You're overthinking it," Juniper shook her head. "I'd be thrilled if you were with some other woman."
"So heartless. I came all this way for your pasta, driving hundreds of miles. I get it. You're doing this on purpose. You make the food I love so much that I can't get enough of it, like an addiction," Ronnie complained.
Juniper was speechless.
His smooth talk could probably fool a lot of girls.
Juniper was glad she was clear-headed enough not to be deceived by his sweet words.
"Well, I need to pee first. You go make the pasta, and I'll be waiting," Ronnie said.
"Hey, don't forget to put the toilet seat down!" Juniper hollered after him.
By the time Ronnie finally dragged himself out, Juniper had just finished cooking the pasta.
"What took you so long? Were you giving birth in there?" she grumbled.
"If I were, it’d be with you, right, babe?" Ronnie leaned in for a kiss, but Juniper blocked him with a fork. "Get lost!" she snapped.
Ronnie plopped down, grabbed a fork, and started wolfing down the noodles. "Damn, this is good. How do you make even plain noodles taste this amazing? You're a wizard in the kitchen!"
"Cut it out. Any more compliments and they’ll start sounding fake," Juniper interrupted.
"I'm serious. I could eat these noodles every day and never get tired of them."
"Who's gonna cook for you every day? Only a servant would put up with that," Juniper shot back.
Despite finding Ronnie annoying, Juniper had to admit that eating with someone was way better than eating alone. She wasn't a fan of solitude, and having someone to chat with made things more lively.
Ronnie and Anthony were like night and day.
Anthony was the slow-burn type, not overly enthusiastic, the kind of guy you could see yourself with forever. Ronnie, on the other hand, was like a wildfire—intense and capable of lighting up your world in an instant. But the more fiercely the fire burned, the quicker it would die out. So, while he could bring her a lot of joy during the passionate phase, that joy was fleeting. The more joy at the beginning, the more pain later on.
She appreciated the comfort Ronnie provided now, but she knew it wouldn't last.
She even entertained the absurd idea of using one relationship to forget another. But that would be using Ronnie, and she didn't want to wrong him. Nor did she want to risk falling for him and getting hurt again.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Are you finding me more and more handsome, wishing you could just pounce on me?" Ronnie looked eager.
"Yeah, you're pretty handsome. With that face, I'm sure plenty of wealthy women would be fighting to be with you. You'd do great as a gigolo," Juniper teased.
"Of course, not just great. I'd be extremely popular, okay?" Ronnie said proudly, lifting his head.
"Then go ahead and make your debut. Good luck. I'm rooting for you. Treat me to a meal when you make money."
"Sure, but I don't have much experience. How about you teach me?" Ronnie suggested.
"If you, with all your experience, claim to have none, then no man in the world has any. Don't be modest," Juniper retorted.
"How about you be my first client?" Ronnie asked.
"No way, I'm poor and can't afford it."
"I'll give you a freebie."
"No, I can't do that."
"I'm begging you!"
"Get lost." Juniper pushed his face away.
"Please, just have a taste. It's really good. I promise you won't be able to stop after one bite." Ronnie seductively pulled down his shirt.
"If you keep this up, I'll kick you out," Juniper warned, exasperated.
"Look, people usually need training before they debut. If you don't train me properly, I might not be popular. Juniper, teach me."
Unable to withstand Ronnie's pestering, Juniper shouted, "I don't have any experience myself, so how can I teach you?"
"You have no experience?" Ronnie looked shocked. "Babe, don't tell me you're still a..."
