Chapter 378 This Kind of Person Behaves after a Beating

"I didn't see anything."

"I definitely didn't see anything."

"I think she wants to steal your seat." The others chimed in.

Cassandra became even more smug. There was a look of provocation all over her chubby face. "Did you hear that? No one will testify for you."

Layla clenched her fists, wanting to give her a beating. People like Cassandra just needed a beating. They usually behaved after a beating.

Cassandra's gaze fell on Layla's clenched fists, surprised. "What? You want to hit me?"

"Why are you so barbaric?"

"Layla Adkins is going to hit someone!"

"She’s bullying a colleague, quick, call the police!" They shouted more and more exaggeratedly. The whole car was accusing her of hitting someone.

Layla really wanted to give her a beating.

"Layla, forget about it." Levi came over to pull her away. "Sit next to me."

"Come on, come on."

"Don't be angry."

Levi dragged Layla to the seat next to him in the back row.

Cassandra shouted, "Mr. Allen, don't provoke her. Her family runs a martial arts school. If she loses her mind, she might even hit you."

"Cassandra, calm down!"

"I just care about your safety, Mr. Allen. Do you really want to be her hero?"

"Yes, Mr. Allen, you're using your heroics in the wrong place. She's not a good person. Haven't you seen her true colors?"

"If you help her, you should consider your own situation. If you upset Ms. Taylor, it will be a big problem."

Fanny often treated Levi like a handyman, so the others had gradually become bolder. They didn’t take the manager Levi seriously and mocked him relentlessly.

It took a while for the commotion in the bus to settle down.

Levi glanced at Layla's gloomy face and whispered, "Don't be angry, there's no need to see things the way they do. They're just trying to provoke you, don't fall for it."

"I know."

Layla understood the reasoning. She considered herself a fairly rational person, but even a god would have trouble staying calm if they got into such situations repeatedly. She was very angry now.

Whenever Cassandra turned back with a smug smile to provoke her, Layla couldn't help but feel the urge to push her out of the window.

Troublemakers were very annoying.

"We're like siblings in distress now, sympathizing with each other. You're being targeted by them every day, and I can't help since I'm also in a bad situation. Back then, I was the CEO, and everyone treated me with respect. Now, Fanny treats me like a slave, no, like a dog, it's tough. If I didn’t want to give up the business I built from scratch, I would have resigned long ago.

"If I hadn't been greedy and sold my shares, I wouldn't be in this mess now. But if you don't agree to those kinds of opportunities, you'd be a fool. I've implicated you, I'm really sorry. I promised Susan, my junior, that I would take care of you. I didn't keep my promise."

Levi complained for a while, then apologized, but Layla didn't respond.

The suburban road was bumpy, and since they were sitting in the back row, it was a bumpy ride. Layla felt uncomfortable and held her chest.

"What's wrong? Are you carsick?"

Layla shook her head, struggling to say, "I wasn't carsick before, but this ride is very bumpy." Plus, she was pregnant.

"Eating some candy might help."

Levi stood up and loudly asked, "Did anyone bring some candy?"

He asked the question several times, but the bus was silent. No one responded.

Levi was about to sit down when Cassandra pulled out a bag of candy and loudly said, "Who wants some candy? This candy is sour and sweet, it’s really delicious."

"I want some."

"I want some too!"

Cassandra handed them out.

"It's really delicious."

"This is the best candy I've ever had, it's so refreshing." They deliberately spoke loudly.

Levi walked over. "Give me two of those."

Cassandra held the candy in her hand, showing no intention of giving it to him. "Mr. Allen, are you carsick?"

"Yes."

"I see you're fine, not like someone who's carsick. Maybe she's the one feeling sick." Cassandra glanced at Layla, whose face had turned pale, with a tone full of schadenfreude.

"Give it to me." Levi reached out, but Cassandra quickly pulled back her hand.

"No."

"Cassandra. We're all colleagues here."

"Colleagues? With her?"

"Yes, Mr. Allen, she was just about to hit Cassandra, why should she get candy? We don't even have enough for ourselves."

"Even if we had enough, we wouldn't give it to someone we disliked."

Levi felt disgusted with women for the first time. They were being petty, rude, unreasonable, and sarcastic.

"You're going too far."

"Are we going too far or did she go too far?"

"How does she usually treat us?"

"Why should we repay kindness with resentment?"

"If Ms. Taylor were here, she would support us doing this."

"You've always been biased toward her, it's not fair to us."

"Mr. Allen, although men like to help pretty women, you can't just judge people by appearances. Being too superficial can backfire on you."

"It’s no good getting involved with beautiful but bad women."

"She has so many sugar daddies, do you want to be one of them?"

"You, you all—" Levi pointed at Cassandra, trembling with anger, and finally said, "You've gone too far. I'm not going to argue with you."

He went back to his seat in a huff.

"It's not that he won't argue with us. We’re right, and he feels guilty."

"Yes, there’s no way we're going too far."

"She has a sultry face, so men protect her, we can't compare."

Layla felt uncomfortable all the way to their destination and almost threw up several times. After two hours of torment, they finally arrived at the resort, and everyone got off the bus to grab their luggage.

Everyone took their luggage one by one.

Levi took his suitcase, saw Layla still standing in place, and asked, "Did you get yours?"

"My suitcase is missing." Layla repeatedly checked the place where she had put her suitcase, but it was empty.

"How could that be? Are you sure you put it there?"

"The suitcases were all placed here, where else could I have put it?"

"Don't worry, I'll ask the driver." Levi went to see the driver. He who was smoking slowly and indifferently, and said, "I didn't see it."

"Everyone's suitcase is here, except hers, how could it be lost?"

"Maybe she didn't even put it on the bus." The driver took another puff of smoke.

"It's impossible, I put it in this spot."

"Are you saying I stole your suitcase?" The driver and started arguing with them. Levi was already very angry, so he and the driver argued fiercely, almost coming to blows. Layla had to tell them to forget it.

She glanced at the women watching the show beside them.

"No one else lost anything, just her, it must be a character issue."

"Isn't it?"

"She's getting her just deserts."

"Layla, how dare you look at us like that? What? Are you planning to accuse us of stealing your suitcase?" Cassandra sneered.
