Chapter 870 Miscarriage

In the restaurant, at seven o'clock.

"Why isn't she here yet? What, I agreed to meet her, and now she's acting all high and mighty?" Ruben said discontentedly.

"Juniper wouldn't do that. She values tonight's date a lot. Maybe she's stuck in traffic. I'll call her again."

Anthony picked up his phone and walked out of the restaurant, making the third call, but still, no one answered.

A flash of lightning outside made his heart skip a beat, and a sense of unease washed over him.

Could something have happened?

Thinking of this, Anthony couldn't wait any longer. He made a call, "Find out where Juniper is right now."

Fifteen anxious minutes passed, and Anthony finally received a reply, "Ms. Cooper was in a car accident and is in the hospital."

In the hospital room.

Saffron, upon confirming that Juniper had been in a car accident, waited excitedly.

Elara walked briskly into the hospital room.

"How is she? Is she dead?"

"She's still in surgery, but she lost so much blood when she was brought in, the baby is definitely gone."

"Great! Everything's going so smoothly. God is finally helping us." Saffron said, pumping her fist in excitement.

"Saffron, why didn't you discuss this with me before acting? This is too risky."

"If I discussed it with you, you would have just tried to talk me out of it."

"I was just afraid you'd make a rash decision. If they trace it back to you, your dad won't let you off."

"She caused me to lose a leg. Even if Dad finds out, he can't do anything to me. He wouldn't make me pay with my life."

Saffron, consumed by revenge, had lost her sanity and was now even more reckless than Elara.

"But..."

"It's already done. Saying anything now is pointless. I just hope she dies, and it's all over."

But to Saffron's disappointment, Juniper was saved.

"Damn it, that bitch is too lucky." Saffron clenched her fist in anger.

"But she won't escape! This time, I only killed the baby. As long as Juniper is alive and breathing, I won't let her go. She'll only suffer more, haha."

Juniper stood on the street, two blinding headlights approaching.

The horn blared loudly.

She clutched her stomach, trying to move, but her legs felt glued to the ground, unable to take a step.

"Baby, my baby..."

Juniper woke up from the nightmare. It had been two days.

Anthony was by her bedside.

She anxiously asked, "How's the baby? Is my baby okay? Our child..."

Anthony's face was pained, "You need to rest."

Juniper, devastated, looked ashen, "The baby... is gone?"

It felt like a hundred flies were buzzing in her head, the pain as if a rib had been forcibly pulled from her body.

Juniper's face turned pale.

She was too distraught to speak, her throat filled with a sour taste.

Anthony held her hand, "It's okay. We're still young. We can have more children."

He had cried too, his eyes red from sleepless nights of caring for her, "We will."

"Don't be sad. So many people have had miscarriages with their first child, and then went on to have successful pregnancies. It's okay, it happens to a lot of people." Anthony tried to comfort her.

Juniper sat there in a daze, and after a few seconds, she suddenly broke down crying, "My baby..."

"I'm sorry, I didn't take good care of the baby. I'm sorry... I'm sorry."

"Why did this happen to me?"

"Why?"

"I wanted to tell you the good news that night. I was so happy... I thought you'd be as happy as I was."

"Anthony... why..." Juniper cried out in anguish.

"Why..."

"Baby, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

The atmosphere at the Eilish Villa was also heavy.

"She had a miscarriage?"

"Yes." Brenda said with a pained expression, "This is such a huge blow to her."

"Anthony didn't know she was pregnant?"

"Probably not."

Ruben angrily slapped the sofa, "If she had told us earlier, I wouldn't have scheduled the meeting so late, and the accident wouldn't have happened. Why did she keep it a secret? What was she thinking?"

"I guess Juniper was worried you wouldn't accept her, so she thought she'd tell you later. After all, getting married because of a baby, she might have been worried you wouldn't like it. As a woman, I can understand her thoughts."

"Ridiculous! Selfish! The child isn't just her business. No matter what, she shouldn't have kept it a secret. Look at the mess now! Our Eilish family's child, do you think I wouldn't acknowledge it? So self-righteous! Look at the mess..."

"Now that she's had a miscarriage, what if it affects her future fertility?"

Brenda frowned, "Honey, it's normal for you to worry, but I hope you understand. Women are not just baby-making machines, and having children is not their only value. The most important thing is that Anthony loves her. Even if she can't have children, it's okay."

"You're being too emotional. He loves her now, but in the future, it will definitely cause problems in their marriage. Children are the key to maintaining a long-term stable family, to truly bind two people together."

"There are so many families without children, and their relationships are still good."

"When they get older, they won't think that way." Ruben retorted, "Besides, Anthony loves kids. Do you think he would accept not having any?"

"They can adopt..."

"Having your own is always better."

"If you say that, then Anthony and Nora aren't my biological children. Does that mean our relationship isn't good? Don't they treat me like their real mom?"

"You're just arguing for the sake of it. What's the point?" Ruben said unhappily, "The fact is, she was wrong to keep it from Anthony. She was too headstrong."

"It's already happened. Stop judging her. When she recovers, don't oppose them anymore. Juniper is really pitiful."

Ruben didn't say anything, his feelings were complicated.

In the hospital.

A spoon was brought to Juniper's lips, but she stared blankly, "I can't drink it."

"Your body is very weak right now. If you don't get enough nutrition, how will you recover quickly?" Anthony said with concern.

"But I really can't eat. My mind is filled with that car accident. If, if I had walked a little slower, if I had paid more attention, I could have avoided the accident, but I..."

But she didn't break any traffic rules, did she? Is this fate?

Anthony held her cold hand. In the hot weather, her fingers were as cold as ice, making his heart ache, "Stop overthinking. Thinking too much will only add to your pain and won't change anything."
