Chapter 670 The Cold Wind Strikes
As soon as Juniper stepped into the house, Aaron was on her like a hawk, "Yo, was that Mr. Eilish who just dropped you off? You two on a date or what?"
"Nope," Juniper brushed him off and kept walking.
Aaron pressed on, "If not, then who? Why aren't you trying to cozy up to Mr. Eilish and lock him down? This is crunch time. You should be steering clear of those other dudes; none of them hold a candle to Mr. Eilish. Don't waste your time. Have you and Mr. Eilish talked about tying the knot? You guys..."
Juniper suddenly halted. "We broke up."
Saffron and Elara's eyes lit up at this.
Aaron was taken aback for a sec, then quickly said, "Just like before, you guys will patch things up, right? It's normal for couples to break up and make up. You might be back together by tomorrow."
Juniper said, "We won't get back together."
"Don't be so final. Last time you had a fight, didn't you make up? You're still working at the Eilish Group. Just make up with Mr. Eilish. I've always told you to keep your cool and not fight with Mr. Eilish..." Aaron kept droning on.
Elara suddenly chimed in, "Maybe it's not because she had a temper, but because Mr. Eilish saw her getting close to another guy?"
Saffron added, "Yeah, Juniper, Mom's been warning you, but you didn't listen. Now Dad's dreams are crushed."
Aaron said, "Mr. Eilish is worth a hundred guys. Juniper, how could you..."
"Enough! This is my business. Haven't you said enough?" Juniper, already in a foul mood, snapped. "Mr. Eilish and I are done. There's no chance of getting back together, and he already has a girlfriend."
"A girlfriend?" Aaron finally grasped the gravity of the situation, feeling like the sky was falling. "You just broke up, and he already has a girlfriend? Did he cheat on you? Mr. Eilish doesn't seem like that kind of guy."
Elara chimed in, "Honey, don't blame me for being blunt. Even if Mr. Eilish did that, you can't blame him. We don't know who cheated first. This kind of thing can't be hidden. Mr. Eilish must have been pissed when he found out Juniper was seeing other guys. Judging by Juniper's gloomy look, she must have confronted Mr. Eilish but couldn't do anything because she was in the wrong."
Juniper angrily asked, "Do you have a mouth just to trash talk others?"
Elara shot back, "You... I'm just being real. Juniper, I'm saying this for your own good and for the good of our family. I want you to marry well so we can all benefit. That's why I've always warned you not to date two guys at the same time. Look at what happened now. Mr. Eilish dumped you, and you can't do anything about it. At least you didn't drag the Cooper family down with you."
"Enough." Aaron cut her off. "Juniper, see if there's any way to fix this. Go apologize to Mr. Eilish and make it up to him. Just say those other guys were pestering you and you don't like them. Go explain it to him."
"Give it up. I won't explain. I don't like Anthony anymore. We're completely over. I'll say this once, did you hear me?" Juniper said each word clearly.
"Is it 'cause of the dude who just dropped you off? Juniper, who is that guy? Is he your new boyfriend?" Saffron kept stirring the pot.
Juniper, fed up with the grilling, decided to shut it down. "Yeah, that's my boyfriend."
"How could you switch up so fast? It's only been a few days. Weren't things good with Mr. Eilish? Where'd this guy come from?" Aaron was about to blow a gasket. "Who is this boyfriend? Is he better than Mr. Eilish?"
Juniper shot back coldly, "Who my boyfriend is ain't your business. It's not Anthony, so stop bringing him up."
"Juniper..." Aaron was practically tearing his hair out.
But Elara and Saffron were loving it, closing the door to gloat.
Saffron said, "Mom, Juniper's just bad luck, like her dead mom. She doesn't deserve a good life."
"Someone who juggles two guys at once is bound to get dumped."
"We didn't even have to lift a finger, and she blew it with Anthony herself. Serves her right!"
"That tramp, just as shameless as her mom. She's probably fooling around with a dozen guys at once. Truly shameless."
"Exactly."
Elara let out a long sigh of relief. "I've been on edge every day, worried Juniper would come back and say she wants to get married before we could come up with a plan. Now it's fine. As long as she doesn't marry Anthony, I'm relieved. That tramp's days are numbered."
Saffron reminded, "But Mom, Juniper isn't dumb. The new guy she's with probably isn't much worse than Anthony. Even if it's not Anthony, if he's better than the Cooper family, Dad will side with her."
Elara nodded. "Yeah, we need to find out who this guy is."
The next morning, as soon as Juniper got to the office, a bunch of female colleagues were huddled together, rolling their eyes and gossiping. When they saw her, they swarmed around her like bees to honey, all smiles.
"Morning, Juniper."
"You look extra gorgeous today."
"What do you mean today? Juniper looks stunning every day."
"They say love is the best beauty treatment for women, and it's true. Juniper, you're glowing."
"Look at this plain uniform; it looks amazing on Juniper."
"Juniper's got a killer figure. We can't compete with that."
Juniper didn't let the compliments get to her. She was used to being praised since she was a kid. But she couldn't stand these fake flattering words more than their snarky remarks.
It was really unnecessary.
She felt a bit embarrassed by the compliments.
"Juniper, how'd you snag Mr. Woods and make him change his player ways? Spill the secrets."
"Yeah, besides being gorgeous, got any other tricks? Playing hard to get?"
"Right. Mr. Woods is always surrounded by beautiful women, but they're just for fun. Only you could win his heart and make him dote on you. You're probably his first publicly acknowledged girlfriend. The others were just flings."
"You don't know how much we envy you, Juniper. We should hang out more often."
"Yeah. Mr. Woods' friends must be loaded too. Invite us to hang out with them and give us a shot."
"I wanna marry into a wealthy family too."
They all spoke at once, making Juniper super frustrated.
A cold wind suddenly blew from behind.
