Chapter 278 Office Battle

Grace rolled her eyes. She was furious. "This is my house, and you tell me to get lost? Are you out of your mind?"

Caleb's head was already throbbing. Grace's voice was like a bomb, continuing to bombard his nerves and fuel his rage.

He propped up his weak body and stood up, leaning against the wall as he walked out. Grace persisted. "You stayed at a hotel the past two nights?"

"Which woman did you sleep with?"

She had someone investigate, but only he went into the room and no woman appeared afterward.

But during this time, he was acting strange because he would come back home every night for Candy's sake, no matter how late he worked.

"None of your damn business!" Caleb cursed, losing his temper.

"Caleb..."

"Move."

"You’d better explain it to me."

"Who the hell are you screwing around with?"

"Caleb, say it!" Grace threw herself at him, grabbing and pulling him. Caleb found her annoying and waved his large hand.

Grace couldn't steady herself and stumbled a few steps, hitting her head against the wall.

"You dare hit me?

"Caleb, you actually hit me?

"Are you still even a man?

"Believe it or not, I'll press charges against you!" Grace shouted angrily.

Caleb paid her no heed and collapsed onto the bed.

Grace walked to the bathroom with angry strides. There was a swollen red spot on her forehead, but it wasn't too serious.

But for Grace, it was a great humiliation. He had hit her for the first time. She would never forget it.

Grace thought for a moment. She rubbed her forehead hard, making the wound look severe. Then she took out her phone and took a selfie with the injury.

When she went out, Caleb was already fast asleep, muttering the name of some name in his sleep.

Grace leaned in close to his chest and listened carefully.

"Susan... Susan... Susan..."

Her blood ran cold.

It was that bitch again.

Was the woman she saw at the amusement park that day really Susan?

The second floor of the design department at Brightness Design Company was a two-hundred-square-foot cubicle. The space was medium-sized, and the decoration was simple.

Layla was getting herself some water. Somehow, she became distracted by the green plant in front of her.

The water was about to overflow when she snapped back to reality. She picked up the glass and turned her head, bumping into someone.

The water splashed onto the person's coat. She also accidentally stepped on the person's heel.

"I'm sorry," Layla quickly apologized.

In front of her was a middle-aged woman in her thirties. She looked decent and was the most experienced designer at Brightness Design Company, Fanny. Her skills and achievements were not as good as those of the designers at the Holland Group, but she was still decent at Brightness Design Company. Besides, she was an old employee, so she was usually a bit arrogant. Others tended to try to please her.

"Ouch. You are the most talented designer of Brightness Design Company. I dare not ask for an apology from you," Fanny sarcastically said. "Of course, the famous designer of The Holland Group has the right to be arrogant. Even if you step on me directly, I can only endure it, let alone splashing water on me."

Upon Layla's arrival at the company, she immediately felt Fanny's hostility. Where there were women, there was competition. Layla had experienced this before, but she didn't want to cause trouble.

Fanny's two subordinates were unhappy and immediately said, "Fanny, you can't say that. According to her time at the company, she is just a newcomer. She is too bold."

"She is showing disrespect even though she just arrived. She will definitely bully you in the future."

"Apologize to Fanny right away."

"I have already apologized," Layla calmly said.

"Really? I didn't hear it. Did you hear it?"

"No."

"We didn't hear it either."

Layla didn't want to waste time on this boring matter, so she patiently said, "I'm sorry."

"You sound really reluctant."

"You have no sincerity. I can only hear your unwillingness."

"If you don't want to apologize, then don't. No one is forcing you. Don't act like we are bullying a newcomer."

Neither apologizing nor refraining from apologizing were the right choices. One could never appease someone intent on causing trouble.

Layla said, "You are indeed bullying a newcomer."

"What did you say?"

"You need to have evidence when you make accusations, Layla."

"How did we bully you?"

"It seems like you are being arrogant because you have the support of Mr. Marks. You falsely accuse us."

"That's right. Are the designers from The Holland Group so amazing? Are you willing to quit your job for them? I bet you were kicked out by The Holland Group."

"Don't act like you are so great." Fanny's two companions took turns to insult Layla.

"Layla, you stepped on me and even spilled water on me. I didn't make a fuss. But when you say I bully newcomers, I disheartened," Fanny said firmly, "We are all colleagues. I have always been fair in how I treat people. When have I bullied anyone? Don't frame me."

"That's right. Fanny is the best."

"I think you are just jealous of Fanny. You are intentionally smearing her."

"Why is it so lively early in the morning?" Levi walked in with his laptop, smiling.

"Mr. Marks, how can you hire someone like her? She has been bullying Fanny since the moment she arrived less than a week ago."

"That's too much."

"She was already kicked out by The Holland Group. Does she think she's impressive?"

"What's wrong?"

"She intentionally poured water on Fanny and even stepped on her. Now she's saying we're bullying new people."

"She's a bitch."

Fanny looked at Levi meaningfully, waiting for him to speak.

But Levi didn't think there was a problem. "Have you all been too free recently? Is this little thing worth fighting over?"

"Little thing? Fanny is a key figure in the design department. Layla actually dared to bully her. Layla will definitely think of herself as the boss of the design department and bully us in the future."

"That's right. Mr. Marks, you intentionally favor her."

"Alright, alright, everyone is colleagues. Get along well. Let's start the meeting." Levi glanced at Fanny.

Fanny wanted to say something, moved her mouth, but in the end, disdainfully swallowed it back and left with a "hmph".

The meeting commenced in the conference room.

"This week, I want to commend Layla. The clients are full of praise for her service attitude and professionalism. Layla, you did a great job!" Levi praised.

The people at the table discreetly rolled their eyes, looking at each other.

Someone said, "Her deals are all ready-made, with no difficulty at all. Unlike us, who have to negotiate our own deals, which is the most difficult."

"Yeah. It sometimes takes months to secure a deal. We have to socialize and please the clients. It's really hard."

"We've worked so hard, and we don't even get a word of praise. She gets all the credit. It's completely unfair."

Generally, Levi tended to avoid trouble. "Alright, alright, all of you have worked hard. I'll treat you this weekend."

"Those are all small deals. The biggest one is the collaboration with the Sheeran Group. Fanny, how is it going?"
