Chapter 141 Not the Reaction She Should Have
Angela never expected that a small action of hers would cause so much trouble for the Kensington Group.
And yet, the person she most wanted to deal with, Natalie, was unscathed!
After returning to the Kensington Villa, Blair scolded her furiously for an entire afternoon. No one dared to speak up for her.
Blair's attitude was the same as Gabriel's: make her apologize to Natalie!
But then she was locked in a room specifically used for punishment, kneeling for a whole day and night!
The next day was the anniversary of Oscar's death.
Natalie never dreamed that she would see Alyssa and Gabriel at Oscar's grave. Charlie saw them, too.
Charlie looked displeased and pulled Natalie back without approaching immediately.
"Oscar, Gabriel has been taking care of me. Don't worry. I'll take care of myself." After Alyssa said this, she shyly glanced at Gabriel.
Her eyes were full of tender affection, yet she held back her words.
She added, "Gabriel, I know you're troubled because of Natalie. Don't worry. I'll go to Luminara soon so that Natalie won't target you anymore."
Retreating to advance was better than shamelessly staying.
Gabriel frowned slightly and was about to speak when he heard a light snort from behind.
The sound was full of disdain.
Turning around, he saw Natalie raising an eyebrow and looking at them with a half-smile.
She was wearing a black, knee-length dress that was quite formal, with no embellishments, yet it made her stand out even more.
Natalie sneered, "Ms. Davis, if you're so reluctant to leave Mr. Kensington, you should stay."
She smiled mockingly.
Leaving so soon?
She hadn't even settled the score with her yet.
"What are you doing here?" Alyssa's voice changed. She was both surprised and shocked, glaring fiercely at Natalie.
Charlie's face darkened, and he stepped forward to question them,
"I should be asking you that. Why are you at my brother's grave?"
Gabriel had long known that Charlie was Oscar's brother, but they hadn't interacted much. Charlie had gone abroad to study early on, so he didn't know that Oscar had met Gabriel in the military.
Alyssa was a bit flustered.
If Natalie found out that her relationship with Gabriel was only because she was Oscar's girlfriend and not the "true love" she had led Natalie to imagine, wouldn't she mock her even more brazenly?
In an instant, she looked up sharply at Gabriel.
The moment Gabriel saw Natalie, he had a plan in mind.
Facing Charlie's questioning, Gabriel remained calm, thought for a moment, and then spoke slowly, Charlie, let me introduce myself. I was Oscar's comrade. Alyssa was Oscar's girlfriend. Before he died, he entrusted her care to me."
"
In just a few words, he explained everything. Although he was introducing himself to Charlie, he really wanted Natalie to hear it.
Gabriel's gaze remained fixed on Natalie, hoping for a reaction.
This was why he had always taken care of Alyssa. It wasn't because he liked her, cheated, or for any other reason.
In his life, there was no other woman except Natalie, who he had married.
But Natalie's cold reaction was unexpected; she seemed completely indifferent to their relationship and didn't care about his explanation.
Seeing this, Gabriel's face tightened, his gaze never wavering.
Alyssa felt embarrassed and awkward in that instant.
Natalie saw it all. So that's how it was. She had thought Alyssa was very charming, enough to make Gabriel deeply affectionate. Among the women coveting Gabriel, Alyssa's family background, education, and appearance were all subpar. Besides being full of schemes, she had nothing outstanding.
It was truly laughable that she had lost to such a woman?
The atmosphere was eerily silent.
Breaking the silence was Charlie's shocked and incredulous question. "My brother liked her? That can't be true!"
