Chapter 214 Chose the Wrong Side
Natalie's sudden departure without saying goodbye left both Charlie and Quinn scratching their heads. She'd never been that rude before.
Under Quinn's intense stare, Aaliyah finally caved and spilled the beans.
The painting was a fake. And she also revealed Lillian's feelings for Charlie.
Quinn was livid when he heard this.
Aaliyah had always been the good kid, never causing trouble, which was great.
He didn't expect that when she finally did something, it would blow up like this.
Quinn got an expert to show Aaliyah photos of "Hot Sun" from its world tour.
This painting was one of Brian's masterpieces, created at the height of his inspiration. Every inch of it was tied to the overall aesthetic and the golden ratio. So, after much thought, Brian decided not to sign this "Hot Sun," making it even more valuable.
When Aaliyah found out, she went pale. Thinking about how she had humiliated Natalie, she felt like a total idiot!
"But Lillian..." Aaliyah hesitated, thinking she had good intentions too.
Quinn's eyes flashed, and he snorted. "She took over the Garcia family before she was eighteen. Her methods are way more ruthless than yours.
And Charlie's not even interested in her. Even if he was, if she married into the Walker family, would the Walker family take her last name or not? That's still up in the air."
Aaliyah's face turned even more sullen. If Lillian became her daughter-in-law, the future would be tough. She almost missed this point.
"Dad, what should we do?" Her face was pale. She regretted saying those things to Natalie.
"Stay away from Lillian in the future. For business stuff, Charlie and his dad will handle it. Why are you worrying?" Quinn couldn't help but scold. "Find a chance to visit the Clark family and apologize. Whether it's Wallege or Rottloe, the Clark family is our most crucial partner!"
At the Clark Group, Natalie had just wrapped up a meeting when she got a call from Yves. "The Walker family sent you a bunch of gifts; isn't that weird?"
"Charlie?" Natalie asked, surprised. He usually sent them straight to the company.
"No, Mrs. Walker delivered them herself."
Natalie thought, frowning a bit, 'Could it be that she found out about the "Hot Sun"? Too bad it is too late.'
She had already stored the painting in Ulysses' study, and he loved it.She didn't really care about what happened last time. After all, it was Lillian's trick, and she couldn't really cut ties with the Walker family, which was exactly what Lillian wanted.
Natalie smiled. "Got it; let the butler handle the return gifts."
"Okay," Yves replied.
Just then, Aaron knocked and came in. "Ms. Clark, Ms. Garcia is here to see you."
Natalie raised an eyebrow.
She came pretty quickly. With Lillian's temper, even if she was mad, she wouldn't act like Angela, crying and making a scene.
Natalie was curious. "Let her in."
Aaron said, "Yes."
Lillian walked in gracefully and assertively, carrying an undeniable coldness.
Natalie smiled. "What a rare guest, Ms. Garcia."
Lillian sat directly across from her.
The tension between the two women was palpable.
Natalie asked, "What would you like to drink, coffee or tea?"
Lillian replied, "No need."
Natalie raised an eyebrow and signaled to Aaron, who nodded. He closed the door and left.
"Natalie, I don't like beating around the bush, so I'll get straight to the point. Did you have Gabriel kick me out of that project? And did you also make sure Aunt Aaliyah hasn't answered my calls since that day?" Her gaze was sharp, with a hint of anger on her face.
As she spoke, she placed her hands on the table in front of Natalie. The atmosphere was thick with tension.
No wonder Lillian was a woman who had fought her way through the cutthroat business world. If it were anyone else, they might have been scared. But unfortunately, she was dealing with Natalie.
Natalie was completely unfazed.
