Chapter 462 The Family is Very Wealthy

Francis grinned, "Gabriel, this is my youngest daughter. She's been overseas for a while, so she's a bit out of the loop. She's kinda shy, so cut her some slack."

Gabriel's face stayed neutral, but he managed a small, forced smile.

Natalie noticed Briar's nervousness. She didn't seem like someone who'd been living abroad.

Feeling Natalie's eyes on her, Briar quickly glanced up, then looked down again.

Natalie got the hint from Francis and figured it was time to make herself scarce.

She smiled and gave Gabriel a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Mr. Kensington, you two have a chat. I'm gonna grab a bite."

Before Gabriel could say anything, Francis laughed heartily. "Take your time, Ms. Clark."

Natalie gave a slight smile and walked away.

People around them noticed the exchange, and seeing Natalie leave alone, they couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for her.

She had just picked up a dessert and sat down when someone joined her.

It was Robert.

He adjusted his tie, looking a bit apologetic. "Sorry for dragging you here and then ditching you."

Natalie smiled, showing she understood. "Mr. Williams just got back to the country. It's only natural people want to catch up with you."

Robert had been drinking earlier, but now he held a glass of soda water, sipping it slowly.

"Is Mr. Kensington here?" His eyes drifted towards Gabriel, and he paused for a moment. "Vasquez Group?"

Natalie was surprised. How did Robert, who had been abroad, recognize Francis so quickly?

Robert chuckled. "I used to look into investment opportunities out west. But Francis is super conservative, not much help."

Natalie nodded. "I heard he has a daughter, Yasmin?"

Robert shook his head. "The one with him is Briar. They say she grew up abroad."

Robert let out a light laugh, crossing his legs with an air of authority. "Who are they kidding? That's probably his illegitimate daughter. His wife died not long ago, so he finally had the guts to acknowledge Briar."

Natalie nodded, impressed. Robert's gossiping skills were on par with Yves's.

This explained why Briar was different from the typical well-bred young ladies.

Robert coughed. "I did some homework before coming back."

Natalie couldn't help but share a smile with him.

Their eyes softened, and sitting so close together, they looked quite cozy to onlookers.

Could the rumors online be true? Had Robert become Natalie's new love interest?

This scene was particularly glaring to Gabriel, who was watching from a distance.

Francis had deliberately left Briar to take care of Gabriel, hoping to create an opportunity for them.

Briar was both nervous and excited. She had lived with the stigma of being an illegitimate child for twenty years. Now that Francis's wife had passed away, she could finally join the Vasquez family and hold her head high.

Francis had given her such a significant opportunity.

Before this, she could never live as openly and glamorously as Yasmin. She didn't deserve it.

Even after moving into the Vasquez Villa, no one respected her. Even the servants looked down on her.

But if she could marry Gabriel, who would dare to look down on her as an illegitimate child?

Francis had told her that if the Kensington family hadn't been looking to ally with a prominent family, he wouldn't have acknowledged her.

Since Yasmin was already married, Briar's existence had value for the alliance with the Kensington family.

Despite her inner displeasure, Briar knew this was her only chance.

She stole a glance at Gabriel, whose face she had only seen on TV and in magazines. This cold and noble man was standing before her.

She bit her lower lip, mustered her courage, and took a step forward.
