Chapter 423 More Handsome and Wealthier

The next morning, Natalie got a call from Yves.

"The Caldwell Group's in trouble. It happened out of nowhere. Is Gabriel involved?"

Natalie had figured Yves would sense something was up, but she didn't expect him to catch on so fast, especially since he was abroad.

She calmly told Yves that Lonnie was the one behind it all. Yves went silent for a full minute, and when he spoke again, his voice was cold as ice.

"Have Elijah stay with you and keep you safe. Don't get mixed up in anything else. We'll talk when I get back."

Natalie simply replied, "Okay," and they exchanged a few pleasantries before hanging up.

Throwing herself into the collaborative project, Natalie headed to ApexCorp early in the morning.

Dax, lacking experience, struggled with some tricky issues and couldn't make decisions quickly.

Natalie spent the entire day guiding him with great patience.

Before she knew it, it was late afternoon.

The sky outside the window was painted with a stunning sunset, casting a beautiful red hue across the horizon.

Natalie stretched and decided it was time to call it a day.

As she stepped out of her office, she saw a man in a wheelchair with a commanding presence.

His features were sharp and cold, and even those standing around him didn't dare to meet his gaze.

Nathan, who was lounging on a nearby sofa, raised an eyebrow and smiled when he saw Natalie.

"Ms. Clark, calling it a day?"

His tone was surprisingly relaxed.

He loosened his tie.

Gabriel had arrived at the office right after lunch to wait for Natalie to finish work.

He had spent the afternoon scrutinizing the company's projects and accounts, pointing out numerous issues that even professional auditors had missed.

If he stayed any longer, Nathan felt he might lose his mind.

The moment Gabriel saw Natalie, his expression softened, and he looked at her with a gentle smile.

"Perfect timing. A new Fairland restaurant opened nearby. How about we go try it out?"

"Why do you need me to try the food?" Natalie asked, exasperated.

Gabriel looked at her with a pitiful expression. "Didn't you promise to take care of me?"

He looked like a wronged lover, making everyone around them stare in shock.

Natalie felt the weight of their gazes and couldn't stand it.

In an instant, she moved forward to push his wheelchair, tossing her bag to Elijah.

"Fine, let's go try the food."

After all, she did feel a bit guilty.

Elijah followed them without a word, and as they walked, he took over pushing the wheelchair from Natalie.

Natalie didn't even notice this small gesture.

Gabriel noticed, though, and it made him silently fume.

Just as they were about to get into the car, a small figure came running towards them from a distance.

"Natalie, I missed you so much!"

Natalie paused as Mike ran up to her, hugging her leg and acting all cute.

"I haven't seen you in so long. I missed you so, so much!"

Natalie ruffled his curly hair, her heart melting. She knelt to hug his small, soft body.

"Mike, I missed you, too. Your dad told me you've been working hard in school. You're such a good boy!"

Mike had been very unhappy with Robert's strict schedule of tutoring and rest, which was why he had sneaked out to find Natalie.

But hearing her praise him made all his pent-up resentment disappear instantly.

Natalie was complimenting him.

Mike hugged her tightly, his eyes crinkling with joy.

"I'll become even more handsome and rich!"

Then, he could be with Natalie openly.

Gabriel scoffed from the side, watching with disdain at Mike's blind confidence.

"Alright, we need to go now."

Mike looked at Natalie anxiously. "Where are you going? I want to come too!"
