Chapter 420 It's a Trap

Natalie took a big gulp of her drink, trying to avoid conversation.

She just wanted to pretend she didn't know Jagger.

Their lively chatter drew the attention of others.

Lonnie, still curious, wandered over with his drink, eyeing Jagger with a puzzled expression.

"And this is?" Lonnie asked.

Natalie had no intention of making introductions.

Instead, Jagger stood up, eyeing Lonnie with a mix of complex emotions and a hint of resentment.

He smiled, his eyes narrowing, and extended his hand. "Long time no see!"

Lonnie racked his brain. This guy seemed familiar, but he couldn't place him.

He forced a smile. "Yeah, you and Ms. Clark seem to be having a good chat. Hope I'm not interrupting."

"Not at all," Jagger waved his hand, looking completely at ease, like he was a regular in such settings. No sign of discomfort.

Lonnie gave a knowing smile, glancing at the two of them. "Ms. Clark is stunning. She always has admirers wherever she goes."

"People like us can't compare to Ms. Clark," Jagger interrupted, looking seriously at Lonnie.

Though he didn't know who Lonnie was, he seemed like just another wealthy guy with bad intentions towards Natalie.

"Look at me, I'm fat and dumb. You seem quite old. Let's not embarrass ourselves. Only someone like Mr. Kensington is worthy of Ms. Clark."

Lonnie's sly smile faded, his expression darkening at Jagger's words.

Lonnie asked, "Which company are you the CEO of?"

He smiled, genuinely wanting to know.

His gaze was dangerous, as if he could easily ruin Jagger if he found out.

Jagger replied, "I won't tell you."

The atmosphere grew tense.

Natalie considered stepping in for Jagger, but then she noticed Robert looking their way.

Robert had just finished a call and walked over quickly, his expression grim.

He grabbed Natalie's wrist and whispered in her ear, "The driver woke up and can talk. The doctor wants us to hurry over."

Natalie was shocked and immediately followed Robert, not noticing Lonnie's expression changing drastically after Robert's words.

Jagger hesitated, glancing at Lonnie, then ran after them.

But it was too late. They got in the car and drove off smoothly.

Elijah followed in another car, soon disappearing into the night.

Jagger waved, but no one waited for him. He cursed his slow pace.

Natalie sat nervously, "Is he awake?"

Robert smiled coldly, his expensive watch reflecting a chilling light in the darkness. "No, he can't be saved."

Natalie was stunned. "So, it's a trap?"

She suddenly recalled Robert's earlier words, her mind clearing. "The mastermind must be among those three, right?"

Robert gave her an approving look. "Yes."

Natalie's heart sank.

She had suspected her enemies, but she hadn't wronged any of those three.

Could it be because Robert chose the Clark Group?

She looked up, meeting Robert's gaze. His voice was cold, "You're right. It's because of the project."

Natalie paused for a while before she calmed herself. "How did you trace it to them?"

Robert's expression was icy, his voice revealing a chill. "I planted informants around them. Just got word they all contacted the same private investigator. This guy launders money for the rich, transferring assets abroad for a commission. The extra money in the driver's account came from this investigator's overseas account."

Natalie was shocked. "So, it's one of them?"

Her intuition told her it was Lonnie.

Byron was rough but straightforward, Kurt was slick and cautious, but Lonnie's words always had a sinister edge, making her uncomfortable.

"We'll find out soon enough."
