Chapter 73 Starshadow
Natalie had just saved Avery's phone number when she exited Avery's lab, a small Starshadow in tow. Her swift departure took Nathan by surprise. She held up the small Starshadow, a smile gracing her lips. "Avery gave it to me, may I take it with me?" she asked.
Nathan's eyes flickered with surprise before he broke into a warm smile. "Of course, it's her personal property, not the company's. If she gave it to you, it's yours to keep."
Approaching them, he affectionately patted the little Starshadow. "Goodbye, Traitor, be good," he said, his voice filled with amusement.
The Starshadow said, "I'm finally leaving with my fair lady."
A helpless smile appeared on Nathan's face. "Let's go. I'll take you home."
Upon returning home, Natalie intended to spend some time chatting with the little Starshadow. However, her plans were interrupted by the sudden ring of her phone. It was a video call from Yves.
The little Starshadow roamed around her home without any hesitation, its eyes wide with curiosity. The luxurious decor and high-end furniture left it in awe. It wagged its tail, hopped onto the sofa, and settled down on a scarf worth a small fortune, using it as a makeshift cushion.
Yves had bagged six Best Actor awards since his debut. Feeling unchallenged, he had decided to venture abroad. His flawless face was a testament to his natural acting prowess. A single smile from him was enough to send his fans into a frenzy.
"My sister is even more beautiful now," he commented.
Natalie ran her fingers through her hair, a proud smile on her face. "I've always relied on my looks, no other way."
Yves chuckled at Natalie's unabashed vanity. "To celebrate your divorce, I've canceled my upcoming shoot and will be back home tomorrow. Remember to pick me up at the airport."
Before Natalie could respond, Yves ended the call. Feeling a bit helpless, she turned her attention back to the little Starshadow and patted it's head. "Don't you have a name? What should I call you?"
"I'm called Baby," the little Starshadow replied, nuzzling her palm.
Natalie couldn't help but smile. "Let me give you a name. Starshadow Clark. From now on, you're Starshadow. Isn't that a powerful name?"
The little Starshadow seemed to love the name. "Awesome! I'm the mighty Starshadow!" it exclaimed.
When Starshadow slept, it was indistinguishable from any other animal. After a nap, it would be brimming with energy for the day. Natalie couldn't help but think that Avery was a genius. It was no wonder she liked Yohan; geniuses were drawn to each other.
The next morning, Starshadow climbed onto the bed and woke Natalie up. "Mommy, it's time to get up," it said, using its little paws to pull away her blanket. Natalie felt a chill as Starshadow quickly burrowed in. "Mommy, you said you're going to the airport."
Airport? Natalie was taken aback, quickly sitting up. She had almost forgotten that Yves was coming back.
"Did you call me Mommy?" she asked, surprised.
Starshadow lay on her, licking her palm. "Avery said whoever named me is Mommy."
"Can you call me Natalie?" she asked.
Starshadow seemed to furrow its brow. "Mommy Natalie?" It didn't understand the nuances of different titles.
"Just call me 'Mommy'," she said, knowing no one would believe she was Starshadow's mother anyway.
"How did you know I was going to the airport?" she asked.
"My memory is great," Starshadow proudly stated.
Natalie chuckled. "Alright, wait for me at home. I'll go pick up Yves first."
She quickly got out of bed and slipped into an elegant black dress adorned with scattered diamonds on the cuffs and collar. It was formal yet not overly serious.
Driving her understated Cayenne, she smoothly navigated her way to the bustling airport. The arrival hall was teeming with people, a group of girls huddled together, seemingly waiting for someone. Natalie suspected they were waiting for Yves.
She wasn't wrong. A girl held up a sign that read: [Yves, Yves, you're my love.]
Natalie was taken aback by the scene, almost bursting into laughter. She quickly snapped a picture and sent it to her family.
Natalie: [I'm starting to doubt Yves' name for the first time.]
Victor: [Yves, Yves, you're a thief!]
Yohan: [This sign should be made of composite materials.]
Yves: [How dare you insult my name, I'll tell my dad to beat you up!]
Ulysses: [I didn't see anything.]
