Chapter 402 Retribution Comes Too Quickly
Wendy suddenly lost it, screaming, "Get this woman out of here! I won't let you two be together!"
Gabriel's voice was icy as he reminded her, "The Kensington family isn't yours to command."
Wendy glared at him, her teeth clenched. "You're my son! How can you not listen to me?"
Gabriel's eyes remained calm and indifferent. He remembered when he was sent abroad for special training at the age of five. He couldn't help but call Wendy, who was shopping at the time.
She impatiently told him to tough it out, that things would get better when he grew up. Then she turned around and told Blair about the call, which earned him a whipping.
Now that he was grown, did she think she could control him? Ridiculous!
He curled his lips into a bitter, intense smile. "If you leave the Kensington family, I won't be your son anymore."
Wendy's body shook violently, her face turning ashen. She never dreamed Gabriel would say something like that.
Gabriel slowly reined in his emotions, his expression softening as he watched Natalie walk away. The longing and reluctance in his eyes were unmistakable.
Wendy felt like she was about to break down. With Angela not around, Wendy never saw her as a mother. Even that tramp Natalie dared to disregard her!
She trembled with rage. It was all because of Natalie! If it weren't for her, everything would be fine.
One thought consumed her mind: Make her disappear!
Wendy's eyes swept the room and landed on the fruit knife in the bowl on the table. Without thinking, she grabbed it and charged out.
Gabriel's face changed dramatically. He tried to stand, but the pain in his right leg was excruciating, making it impossible.
He shouted, "Natalie, watch out!"
Just as Natalie was about to turn around, Elijah suddenly yanked her arm to the right, moving so quickly she didn't have time to react.
"Die!"
Wendy screamed from behind, her eyes bloodshot. Natalie dodged, feeling a chill down her back.
Wendy's raised fruit knife missed its mark, and she slipped, falling to the ground. The knife ended up stabbing her in the abdomen.
Blood gushed out instantly.
Natalie froze for a moment, watching Wendy writhe in pain, the life draining from her eyes.
Julia ran over, crying hysterically. "Mrs. Kensington, don't scare me! Are you okay?"
Gabriel's face was a mix of coldness and shock, his eyes flickering slightly.
Elijah, expressionless, opened the car door for Natalie. "Ms. Clark, please."
Natalie lowered her gaze and got into the car.
Elijah looked at Wendy, then at Gabriel. "The car has a dashcam. It recorded Mrs. Kensington's attempt to attack. Regardless of her injuries, Ms. Clark reserves the right to press charges."
His words preempted a lot of potential trouble.
Julia, kneeling behind Wendy, looked up at them in shock.
Wendy's face was even more ghastly, but she didn't have the strength to speak.
The car roared to life and sped away.
Natalie sat in the car, silent and pensive.
Elijah, both bodyguard and driver, rarely spoke first. "Ms. Clark, do you want to move back to the Clark Villa?"
Natalie rubbed her nose. "Not for now. If I leave, it looks like I'm guilty. They're the ones in the wrong."
She didn't want to cause trouble, but Wendy insisted on making things difficult.
The wound in Wendy's abdomen wasn't fatal, but the blood loss would make her suffer.
She brought this on herself, didn't she?
Did Natalie feel guilty?
Not at all!
