Chapter 286 Give Me Another Chance

Gabriel's voice was like velvet, deep and husky, with a hint of emotion in his eyes.

As soon as he finished talking, it felt like the air froze.

Natalie's face went ghostly pale.

Her eyes were wide with disbelief. Did she hear him right?

He wanted her?

The guy who once treated her like trash now wanted her back?

Natalie was totally confused.

The silence was getting to her, chipping away at her calm.

Gabriel's eyes were glued to her face, reading every emotion.

Shock, surprise, detachment, resistance – it was all there.

But, thank God, no disgust!

Gabriel moved closer, wanting to touch her hair, to show her he was sincere.

But before he could, Natalie stepped back.

When Felix had approached her earlier, she didn't react this strongly, but with Gabriel, she dodged immediately.

Her reaction cut Gabriel deep.

He tried to play it cool, smiled a bit, but his eyes were a storm of emotions.

His voice was rough but gentle, holding back so much.

"I'm not joking, Natalie. I haven't been doing any better than you. I think our divorce was too hasty."

Natalie's brows knitted together. She suddenly realized something and looked at him.

Gabriel's eyes were filled with pure joy and happiness.

Seeing that, her heart skipped a beat.

She actually saw affection in his eyes.

For a moment, her calm heart was stirred, like a stone thrown into still water, creating ripples.

It wasn't joy; it was just shock.

But in an instant, she pulled herself together and put on a calm face.

She curled her lips, looked up at him, her eyes cold.

"Mr. Kensington, it was our marriage that was too hasty."

The divorce was something she decided on after three years of thinking it over.

For her, it was a relief.

As soon as Natalie spoke, Gabriel's body went stiff, his gentle face tensed, and the emotions in his eyes shattered.

She met his gaze without flinching.

If it were any other matter, no matter what Gabriel asked, Natalie would have no reason to refuse.

But when it came to love, she was done. She wasn't going to get burned again.

"Natalie, give me another chance. I will definitely..."

Gabriel's face was pale, looking at her almost pleadingly.

But before he could finish, Natalie cut him off, "Mr. Kensington, are you trying to tell me you regret the divorce, that you've fallen for me?"

Gabriel looked at Natalie and nodded. "Yes."

His voice was rough and dry.

He admitted that Natalie was irreplaceably important to him.

He admitted that his feelings had never been so clear.

He admitted that when he heard about Natalie's accident, the pain he felt was deep love.

The divorce was the dumbest thing he ever did. If he could do it over, he'd do anything to get Natalie back!

But when Natalie got that answer, she just curled her lips calmly. "Mr. Kensington, I don't hold any grudges about our past, but I stopped liking you a long time ago. I'm very grateful for everything you did to save me. If you want anything, you can talk directly to my father and Victor. They won't refuse."

Natalie didn't want to discuss what reward he wanted. The Kensington family wasn't short of money, but who would refuse more money?

It was better to let Ulysses and Victor handle these matters.

Natalie's indifferent and polite attitude was a shock to Gabriel.

"I stopped liking you a long time ago."

That sentence hurt him more than any mockery or disgust, like a soft needle piercing his heart, causing excruciating pain.

A wave of helpless bitterness washed over him.

The Natalie who once had eyes only for him, he had lost her long ago.
