Chapter 307 You Need to Have Your Own Opinion
Yves finished talking, turned around, and got into the car without giving Gabriel another glance. The butler started the engine and they drove off right away.
When Natalie got back home, she had a really good dream.
The morning light gently filtered through the curtains, spilling onto the floor. Starshadow had switched the indoor sleep mode to activity mode.
Right now, it was lazily swinging on the balcony, its four little paws trembling and curling together, looking both scared and happy.
In the morning, a call from Mia woke her up. She answered, still half-asleep, "Did you and Kelly plan this? Not letting me get a good night's sleep ever?"
Mia's usually calm voice had a hint of urgency. "Yesterday, Gabriel took you away. He didn't do anything to you, did he?"
Natalie was instantly wide awake. "He took me away?"
Wasn't it her who got into his car?
"Yeah, Rance, that coward, didn't dare to confront Gabriel. But I told Yves later. Nothing happened during that time, right?"
Natalie's eyebrows twitched. Gabriel dared to lie to her? "No, Yves came quickly."
"That's good."
Mia chatted a bit more before hanging up.
But Natalie was so mad she was grinding her teeth. She had been fooled.
Knowing she was awake, the servants brought her some hangover soup early in the morning. Natalie had a wonderful breakfast and then took Starshadow to ApexCorp.
Starshadow's program had been altered by Kyle, but Violet would surely have a way to fix it.
She couldn't allow Starshadow to like someone she disliked.
The receptionist saw Natalie coming and immediately approached her respectfully. "Ms. Clark, welcome. Mr. Lewis didn't know you were coming today. I'll contact him right away."
Natalie raised her hand slightly. "No need. I'm here to see Violet. Is she in?"
The receptionist paused. "Of course, please wait in the guest room."
Natalie raised an eyebrow and exhaled in relief.
Great, she could soon solve her major concern.
In the guest room, Natalie stroked Starshadow's soft fur.
"In the future, you need to have your own opinions. You can't just agree when someone modifies your program. You need to learn to refuse."
Starshadow crouched in her palm, looking aggrieved. "Daddy is the most handsome person. Mommy, you need to face the facts."
Natalie almost wanted to pick it up and scold it. Just then, the guest room door suddenly opened.
"Natalie, you're here." Wearing a lab coat, Violet walked in, her hair in a bun.
Natalie looked up happily, but before she could say anything, her smile froze as she saw the two people who followed. "Mr. Lewis, Mr. Kensington?"
Nathan and Gabriel walked in one after the other, one smiling and the other expressionless.
Natalie took a deep breath. These people were like ghosts that wouldn't go away.
Nathan adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. "Long time no see, Ms. Clark. Congratulations on surviving."
Natalie smiled. "Thank you."
Seeing that she had no intention of greeting Gabriel, Nathan tried to ease the awkwardness.
He cleared his throat. "Well, coincidentally, Mr. Kensington is also here for a meeting. We thought you were here to check on the progress of the AI project, so we came to discuss it together. After all, you've always been in charge of this project."
Nathan thought his excuse was flawless.
Natalie tried to keep her tone even. "I handed over this project before my accident. It's been a while."
Nathan fell silent.
Just when everyone thought the atmosphere was getting awkward, Gabriel suddenly spoke, his voice gentle and calm, "After drinking so much last night, are you feeling better?"
