Chapter 81 I Came for You

The sky gradually darkened and turned a somber shade of navy blue. The evening chill accompanied the gloom and made the atmosphere rather uncomfortable.

Natalie checked the time and decided it was about right. She headed straight to the office's wardrobe, which always had the latest designer collections. She picked an understated yet luxurious dress, slipped into elegant high heels, grabbed a limited-edition handbag, and left.

Upon arriving at the club, no one recognized her. Everyone was engrossed in lively conversations with their acquaintances. This salon had no specific theme; It was merely a social gathering for wealthy ladies to pass the time.

Natalie took a plate of snacks and slowly enjoyed them. Sitting in a corner, she didn't see Jessica. She thought, ‘Could it be that she didn't come?’

"Natalie?" A surprised voice called out to her.

Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Charlie? What brings you here?"

"We really do run into each other often." Charlie raised an eyebrow as well.

Natalie gave him a slight glance. "Why are you here?"

"My mom specifically wanted the snacks from this club, so she sent me to get them." Charlie shrugged helplessly.

Natalie chuckled. Charlie's mom was indeed quite particular about her food.

"And you?"

"I'm just here to join the fun." Natalie smiled and checked the time. It was about time to leave. She stood up, and Charlie immediately grabbed her by the wrist.

"Where are you going?"

Natalie sighed. "I need to use the restroom. I'll be back in a minute."

Charlie released her hand but was unwilling to miss this chance to get closer to her. "I'll wait for you and then take you home."

"I drove here."

"Then you can drive me home."

Natalie left the banquet hall. The corridor was quieter, though there were still quite a few people talking. As she reached the corner, she overheard someone mentioning her name.

"Gabriel's ex-wife is no simple woman. I heard she cheated during the marriage, which led to the divorce. She plays the victim online to clear her name. Actually, the Kensington family didn't want to bother with her. Otherwise, could she maintain her current dignity?"

"Angela from the Kensington family is my friend. I've heard about their issues. Look at her: a woman without an outstanding education or a prominent family background. She was a housewife for three years and became the vice president of the Clark Group right after the divorce. I heard she replaced Jessica."

"Jessica is really pitiful. She worked so hard to become an admired woman, only to be overtaken by that bitch Natalie. I heard the project in Natalie's hands was actually snatched from Jessica..."

"Natalie is so shameless. How can anyone like her still thrive? I heard she got Victor's support. Victor gave her a house and a car. I wonder if Victor will lose his mind when he sees the photos of her and Yves together today?"

"Exactly. She should look in the mirror. Someone like her is only fit to be a man’s mistress. Which a rich miser would marry a slut?"

Natalie paused, raising an eyebrow. What a coincidence! She was always the main character.

She smirked and was about to go over to teach these women a lesson when she heard a familiar and aggrieved voice.

"What can I do? I don't have a prominent family background and can't please men. No matter how capable or hardworking I am, I can't compare to the woman Mr. Clark likes."

Natalie thought, ‘Is that Jessica?’

"You're such a pushover. If this were my company, I'd make that woman pay dearly. How dare she to be so arrogant?"

"Yeah, Jessica, you should teach her a good lesson. What's there to be afraid of with a bitch like her?"

Natalie smirked. She took a step back and called Charlie, "Do me a favor. There's something in my bag."

After hanging up, she saw a waiter passing by with red wine. She casually picked up a glass and walked over.

"I'd also like to know. Jessica, what kind of lesson do you want to teach me?"

The sudden question stunned the three people in the corner, especially Jessica, whose face showed a trace of panic but quickly calmed down.

"Ms. Clark, what a coincidence?"

"Not at all. I came here specifically to find you." Natalie smiled at her, raised her glass, and tilted it slightly while she was pouring the red wine over Jessica's head.
