Chapter 267 When in Rome, Wear a Wig
After trudging for over twenty minutes, Natalie’s legs felt like jelly, and her feet were blistered and throbbing.
When they finally got to their spot, the rain had just let up.
The waves were crashing harder, the wind was howling, and the huge waves were slamming into the rocks, making a racket that sounded like a tsunami.
As they left the forest, the ground near the sea was all muddy and wet, and the soft soil made it tough to walk.
Felix, who was leading the way, moved with a steady strength, not showing any signs of being tired even after all that running.
It seemed like he was used to this kind of environment.
Under the continuous rocks, they reached the sheltered side of the slope, and Felix moved a stone about the size of a person aside.
Then he called out to Natalie, who was standing there looking stunned, and squeezed into the small cave behind the stone.
Natalie followed him in and found a tiny space that could barely fit two people, with seawater trickling through the cracks, leaving no dry spot to stand.
Felix squeezed through a gap less than 16 inches wide, turning sideways.
He called from inside, and Natalie copied his movements to squeeze through, and suddenly, her view opened up.
There was even some light?
Inside, it was clean and dry, with dry branches and leaves, though the air was a bit damp, it was way better than outside.
Natalie smiled as she watched Felix grab a backpack from a high rock, a classic model from LaSportiva.
She recognized it right away, the same brand as his shoes.
He pulled out a men’s jacket and put it on, a classic from the adventure brand Scarpa.
He also took out matching pants and was about to put them on when he suddenly looked up at Natalie.
She was staring at him intently, not blushing or anything, just afraid he’d disappear from her sight.
Felix smiled helplessly.
“Natalie, if you want to watch, I don’t mind.”
Natalie was stunned for a moment, then quickly turned her back.
Her face felt a bit hot.
“Aren’t you thirsty? There’s a tool next to you; go get some seawater. I can distill fresh water.”
He was trying to break the awkwardness.
“Okay.”
She hadn’t had fresh water in a long time; she missed it desperately!
Natalie instinctively walked over, looking at the “tool” on the rock, hesitating slightly.
Wasn’t this just a few leaves tied together to form a “container”?
Well, this place only had these conditions.
She went out, feeling frustrated, and scooped up some cleaner seawater from a crack in the rocks.
Seeing Felix already dressed, his tall and slender body sitting on the branches and leaves, one leg curled up, his head down, seriously fiddling with the tool in his hand.
The messy hair was gone, replaced by clean and neat short hair.
He had a handsome and delicate appearance, even without much grooming, his deep features were particularly charming under the light, especially his bright eyes, as if they could reflect the vast starry sky.
He looked about the same age as her.
But what surprised Natalie wasn’t this.
“Were you wearing a wig just now?”
Felix nodded. “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”
Natalie twitched her mouth. “Who carries a wig with them?”
Felix winked at her, smiling freely and purely.
“I’m an adventurer, always prepared. I run a social media channel, specializing in filming and researching primitive tribes.”
“So, you came here on purpose?”
Felix nodded.
“I randomly chose this small island. I didn’t have much hope for it. I really didn’t expect there to be savages and a real primitive tribe.”
Natalie watched as he took out a small black filming device, the size of an earphone, from a leaf beside him, extremely inconspicuous, but very rare here.
“So, you have a way to leave?”
That was her main concern.
Felix pursed his lips, frowning slightly. “No.”
“Then how will you go back; won’t you return after your research?”
“Well, I didn’t think about that before coming. Another adventurer friend of mine flew me here in a helicopter, but he went to Skyreach for an adventure, not sure if he’s still alive.”
