Chapter 253 Bad News
Natalie was caught off guard, a bit surprised.
Shouldn't he be saying, "No need to thank me, it was nothing"?
Gabriel was, as ever, above the rules.
Natalie rolled her eyes internally but kept a calm smile on her face.
"I already thanked you."
With that, she turned to leave.
Gabriel called out from behind her, "Believe it or not, I had nothing to do with what happened to you that night."
His face was tense, looking pretty upset.
Gabriel wasn't the type to get hung up on small stuff, but he was really trying to explain this.
He kept replaying her look of disbelief from that night in his head.
It felt like a knife twisting in his heart.
For the first time, he felt the helplessness of not being trusted.
She had shut him out of her world, so she didn't believe a word he said anymore.
Natalie's back stiffened a bit.
She remembered Aaron's investigation and had completely moved on from the whole thing.
To her, whether it was true or not didn't matter anymore.
Gabriel's attitude and explanation seemed pointless.
"Mr. Kensington, regardless, it's in the past."
Natalie smiled and walked away.
The plagiarism issue was already settled, and Upton had become a pariah.
The person who stole the chip was one of Upton's lovers, a new intern at ApexCorp, and a classmate of Mary's relative.
She had already been handed over to the police.
The company in Jackarta had started bankruptcy proceedings.
Oliver wasn't ready to give up and kept coming to the Clark Group, causing a scene to see Ulysses.
"How dare you treat me like this? I'm part of the Clark family too!"
Natalie sat in her office eating dessert, feeling super annoyed, and even the dessert lost its taste.
Aaron noticed her expression.
"Should I have security escort him out?"
The employees had been thinking the same thing for a while.
But they were hesitant because Oliver was Natalie's uncle and didn't dare to suggest it.
Natalie looked at the photos sent by people from Jackarta on her computer, her face darkening.
"Let him in."
Aaron was a bit surprised but didn't argue and went out.
"I thought you were hiding and didn't dare to see anyone, Natalie. How can you be so cold-blooded?"
Oliver was a mess; unshaven and disheveled.
He had probably been too worried and anxious these past few days.
Natalie poured him a cup of tea and placed it on the table.
"Uncle Oliver, I have some bad news for you."
Oliver was taken aback.
Natalie's voice was calm and emotionless.
"Just ten minutes ago, the finance department of your company found that all the funds in your accounts had disappeared, and all your real estate and stock holdings had been sold off. You don't even have enough to cover a fraction of what you owe your partners."
Oliver hadn't even sat down when his body stiffened violently, and he suddenly started coughing.
His face turned bright red.
"You're lying!"
Natalie projected the photos from the computer onto the wall.
So he could see them clearly.
""Your lover and daughter, along with that security guard, took the money and disappeared while you were causing a scene here. Uncle Oliver, you should be more careful who you trust."
Oliver's face turned ashen.
His bloodshot eyes were murky and sinister, staring intently at the photos on the wall.
Clara and Mary, who always sweet-talked him, had him wrapped around their fingers.
And in the photos, those two women were now supporting a hunched middle-aged man, their furtive stance fueling speculation.
He was not unfamiliar with that man.
After Natalie's birthday party, he had someone investigate.
That man was Clara's husband, Mary's father.
And now, he was like a joke, making a scene here!
Natalie saw his reaction and knew the timing was just right.
"Uncle Oliver, my dad said he could cover this compensation for you, but the condition is that you withdraw from all Clark Group business, including giving up the shares you secretly bought in the Clark Group."
She believed he knew what to do.
