Chapter 426 Stay Here with Me
Natalie felt guilty about taking a handful of diamonds from someone else. She decided she would have to give Mike an even bigger surprise for his birthday to make up for it.
Once they got into the car, Elijah and the driver sat in the front, while Natalie and Gabriel sat in the back.
Gabriel had his eyes closed, his demeanor cold and silent.
Natalie paused, suddenly remembering that he had asked her to taste the food tonight, and she hadn't given any feedback!
She cleared her throat.
"The restaurant was pretty good. The flavors and presentation were top-notch. What do you think?"
Gabriel's expression softened slightly, his face looking a bit more pleasant.
"As long as you liked it."
Natalie breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn't just eat Gabriel's food for free and then make him angry. She glanced at Elijah in the front.
"Elijah, what did you think?"
Elijah replied, "The taste was average. Looks good but doesn't fill you up."
Natalie was speechless.
Gabriel shot Elijah a cold glance, feeling a bit frustrated.
"I'll have the butler make you something else."
Elijah pursed his lips, "No need."
He wasn't starving, but he was annoyed.
When they got home, the doctor who was supposed to check on Gabriel had been waiting for a long time.
Jagger was chatting enthusiastically with the doctor, the atmosphere lively. A few people were gathered around playing cards on their phones, so they didn't hear Gabriel's car pull up.
Elijah opened the door, and Natalie pushed Gabriel inside.
The four of them quickly put down their phones and stood up.
"Mr. Kensington,"
Jagger reacted quickly, cheerfully greeting them.
"Ms. Clark, Mr. Kensington, you're finally back! I was worried you'd miss your beauty sleep. I made some fruit pudding, it's great for your skin and delicious without the calories!"
He bent down to help Natalie with her shoes while promoting his pudding.
Gabriel didn't need any help, frowning as he looked at the three doctors, who were tense and stiff.
Natalie smiled, "Sure, I'll change and come down to try it."
She turned to the three doctors, her voice gentle, "You can go upstairs to start the check-up. Elijah, go with Mr. Kensington."
Elijah nodded and was about to walk over when Gabriel stopped him, looking at Natalie.
"You come."
Natalie rolled her eyes at him. He never missed a chance to boss her around!
Jagger chimed in, "Ms. Clark, you should go. Mr. Kensington gets nervous and won't talk to anyone else."
Would he talk to her?
Natalie didn't want to argue. Fine, it would be over soon anyway.
Natalie pushed Gabriel upstairs, and the three doctors quickly followed.
To make the check-up easier, they had previously bought a lot of medical equipment for the home clinic, which was now coming in handy.
They helped Gabriel lie down on the bed. His leg couldn't move at all, and it had only been a month since the injury. It would take several more months to fully recover.
The head doctor instructed the other doctors to prepare the equipment, then removed Gabriel's shirt to examine his lean waist and check his heart and lungs.
Next, they cut open his pants to check the condition of his right leg.
During the examination, Natalie instinctively turned away.
Gabriel grabbed her arm, his voice deep.
"You can't leave. Stay here with me."
A second later, Natalie turned her back to him, exasperated.
"Got it. Let go."
The three doctors exchanged glances, wanting to say something but not daring to.
Gabriel didn't let go, looking at the head doctor.
"Continue."
The head doctor pursed his lips. "Should we pull the curtain down?"
The room was designed to filter sunlight from different angles and directions, with sheer curtains that were light and convenient, perfect for blocking Gabriel and Natalie's view of each other.
But as soon as he suggested it, Gabriel shot him a fierce glare.
Natalie quickly said, "Yes, pull it down right away. Elijah."
