Chapter 184 Without a Girlfriend
After hanging up, Natalie didn't give Gabriel a chance to say a word. That was her answer. What did his birthday have to do with her?
Gabriel's heart sank, but remembering what Leo said about her buying a gift, he felt a bit better. She would definitely come.
Natalie woke up early; the call yesterday didn't affect her sleep at all. The rain last night was the perfect lullaby.
When she got up, the sky was still overcast. She opened the balcony door, and a cool breeze made her shiver a bit.
Charlie called early, and Natalie answered, "Mr. Walker, happy birthday! Wishing you a long life!"
He chuckled and teased, "Are you bestowing birthday wishes upon me?"
Natalie retorted, "So confident. If it weren't your birthday today, you'd be in for a scolding from me!"
She put the call on speaker, applied a light touch of makeup, and selected a limited-edition gray-blue dress adorned with pearl embellishments. It exuded luxury and elegance—truly breathtaking!
Slipping into high heels, her entire demeanor instantly radiated power and poise, exuding a remarkably regal aura.
Charlie couldn't resist asking, "My queen, what gift have you prepared for me? I've been pondering it all night."
The gift he anticipated the most was the one from Natalie.
Natalie inquired, "What do you need?"
Charlie bluntly stated, his intentions crystal clear, "I don't have a girlfriend."
He declared, "I intend to formally pursue you!"
Natalie scoffed, "I don't agree."
Charlie asserted, "My decision is final. I don't require your consent. My love is as intrinsic as the blood coursing through my veins."
Without a moment's hesitation, Natalie hung up. Charlie was behaving irrationally!
After getting prepared, she headed straight to the office.
Aaron placed the morning meeting materials on her desk, pausing momentarily.
Then Aaron called out, "Ms. Clark."
"What's the matter?" she replied.
Aaron stated, "Kensington Group sent an invitation for Mr. Kensington's birthday, inviting you to attend."
Aaron's voice gradually lowered, and he couldn't understand where Gabriel got the confidence to think Natalie would agree.
Given their current relationship, saying they were like water and fire would be an understatement.
The office was silent for a few seconds before Natalie chuckled, "He's asking for humiliation. Just ignore him."
Natalie thought, 'Is he my boss? Do I have to celebrate his birthday? He really thinks too highly of himself, doesn't he?'
Aaron breathed a sigh of relief. That was the expected reaction.
He found an excuse to deal with Brad from Kensington Group, and Brad reluctantly went to the CEO's office.
Brad reported, "Mr. Kensington, Ms. Clark conveyed her birthday wishes to you, and also..."
Gabriel questioned, "What?"
Gabriel's eyes darkened, looking displeased.
Brad answered, "Clark Group's project abroad had some issues; Ms. Clark needs to handle it. She has already gone abroad."
Brad paused, raising his eyes. Natalie really came up with a good excuse!
Gabriel's voice was deep. He felt extremely uncomfortable. "I see."
She wouldn't come. Hadn't she already said it? They weren't even friends, so why would she come to his birthday party?
In the evening, Gabriel's friends arrived at the club. The entire place was booked, and no outsiders could get in. Mr. Kensington's birthday had to be grand!
Everyone gathered happily, quickly becoming lively, but Gabriel sat in the corner, silently drinking. He seemed out of place with the atmosphere.
Leo walked over with a glass of wine, lightly clinking his glass. "Gabriel, happy birthday!"
Gabriel didn't even lift his eyes and downed his drink in one go, his gaze deep and unfathomable. "She didn't come," he said coldly.
Leo froze, immediately understanding who he was talking about. He thought quickly and put an arm around Gabriel's shoulder.
"Maybe she felt embarrassed, given your relationship. If she were too forward, it would be awkward. Maybe she'll give you your gift tomorrow," Leo remarked confidently.
Leo was sure he wouldn't be wrong. Natalie had liked Gabriel so much before; how could she not know Gabriel liked Patek Philippe? She must have bought that watch for Gabriel, no doubt!
Someone suddenly shouted from the crowd, "Isn't that Natalie?"
