Chapter 258 Aren't You a Tiger

About a thousand nautical miles away from the search area, there was this tiny island getting hammered by waves. It was totally deserted and uninhabited.

Thick green pines blocked out the sky, and outside the forest, the waves were going nuts, with a cold, salty sea breeze whipping around.

Natalie had been stuck on this godforsaken rock for three days, with no fresh water or food in sight. She hadn't had a sip or a bite in all that time.

Her lips were starting to crack pretty badly.

Starshadow's scarf had turned into her shawl, and the little guy was curled up in her coat pocket, looking as sad as a frostbitten eggplant.

Luckily, she was quicker than the others. Just before the plane blew up, she was the first to open the escape door and jump out with a parachute, no hesitation.

A split-second delay could've meant hundreds of nautical miles, but Natalie managed to get away unscathed.

Even though she was relieved, she felt a pang of sorrow for the others.

But soon, she started to wonder if she could even survive on this tiny island.

Her phone had taken a dive into the sea, and she lost all her communication tools.

Starshadow might've gotten banged up during the landing, messing up its internal system. Plus, there was no signal out here, so she couldn't contact anyone.

All she could do was wait for rescue.

There was nothing here, especially no fresh water.

Without water, a person can only last about seven days.

She was hitting that limit.

Sitting on a rock, she felt like she couldn't hold on any longer, completely desperate.

Why wasn't anyone coming to save her?

So many days had passed without a single sign or sound of rescue.

Did they really think she was dead?

And that damn Gabriel, why did he have to give her that cursed invitation?

She had a million reasons to hate him now.

But in her despair, she thought that if he could come to save her now, she could forgive everything in the past.

Starshadow poked its head out of her pocket.

Its little paws clung tightly to her clothes. The once cute and clean little tiger was now dirty, its white fur turned gray, looking like it had been abandoned in a trash heap.

"Mommy, I can feel that you're not very happy."

Maybe it was the self-repair ability of this intelligent tiger; from initially speaking in broken words, it had now regained fluent speech.

Natalie looked down at it, full of hope.

"You can feel that? Then can you send out a distress signal and get us out of here?"

Starshadow shook its head in confusion, dashing her hopes.

"No, there's no signal. I can't contact Violet."

Natalie's heart sank as she looked at the distant waves, which seemed to carry a devouring power, crashing in layers.

Was she really going to die here?

Natalie sniffled, her eyes stinging, and tears began to fall.

"I'm so hungry. I'm so rich; I can't starve to death, can I?"

She grumbled, not caring if Starshadow could understand.

"I even bought an island. My island is so beautiful; it cost me four billion dollars, and I haven't even seen it yet."

Starshadow struggled to process Natalie's complaints, sensitively catching the keywords.

"My infrared scanner is repaired. I can scan for edible, non-toxic food. Mommy, do you want to look for fruits or wild animals?"

Natalie frowned, her voice rising involuntarily.

"Wild animals?"

Starshadow responded, "When Yves watched TV with me, they said you have to eat wild animals to survive in the wild."

Natalie twitched her mouth. "Are you going to catch them?"

Starshadow reluctantly shrank back into the pocket, every synthetic tiger hair expressing strong resistance.

"I'm just a little tiger."
