Chapter 424 A Small Gift
Natalie tousled his hair, her affection clear. How could she say no?
"Of course!"
Gabriel's eyes darkened, his voice turning icy.
"Did Robert know you came out alone?"
Mike shrank into Natalie's arms, feeling guilty.
Even sick, Gabriel was still a pain.
Gabriel smugly pulled out his phone and called Robert directly.
"Your kid snuck out. He's here with me and Natalie."
The message was clear: come get him.
He even put the call on speaker so Mike could hear Robert's voice.
Robert's tone over the phone was indifferent and cold.
"Is that so? Well, take good care of him for me. I'm in a meeting. Bye."
The call ended abruptly.
The three of them were momentarily stunned.
Mike quickly realized what had happened and was overjoyed, clinging to Natalie.
"Awesome! I can stay with Natalie!"
Gabriel's face darkened with anger as he stared at the darkened screen, his breath unsteady.
He had finally found a chance to go on a date, and now he had to babysit Robert's kid?
So frustrating!
With Elijah joining them, the four of them headed to the restaurant.
Jagger had already reserved a spot, the atmosphere elegant, the lighting dim, creating a setting where emotions could easily flourish.
Jagger had even prepared conversation topics for Gabriel: reminiscing and looking forward to the future!
Gabriel had booked the entire floor, ensuring no other guests were around.
The elegant symphony music and enchanting 3D scenery, with twinkling lights all around, made it feel like they were in a starry galaxy, romantic and beautiful.
If only Mike weren't there, it would be perfect.
Elijah sat at a nearby table.
Mike clung to Natalie's hand, sitting between Gabriel and Natalie, looking at the flowers and candles on the table, feeling a bit disheartened.
Gabriel reached for the bouquet of blue lilies, flown in from abroad, incredibly rare and expensive.
His expression softened, trying to ignore Mike's presence, his voice deep and magnetic.
"For you."
Gabriel had prepared a gift?
Before Natalie could take it, Mike stood up, pouting.
"Natalie likes big, pretty chrysanthemums!"
Natalie couldn't help but twitch her lips. She wanted to say, no, she didn't!
But it was important to protect a child's self-esteem.
Gabriel's eyelid twitched, looking at Mike with exasperation, his gaze cold.
"Kids shouldn't meddle in adult affairs."
Mike sat back down, swinging his little legs, pouting in dissatisfaction.
"Natalie, you won't accept it, right?"
His hopeful eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Natalie's heart melted at the sight.
She quickly spoke up, "No, I love chrysanthemums the most."
She glanced at Gabriel, smiling, "Thank you, Mr. Kensington."
Gabriel put the flowers away, giving Mike a cold look, disliking him even more.
Mike beamed with joy, rummaging in his pocket.
"Natalie, I was in a hurry and couldn't buy you chrysanthemums, but I grabbed some little stones from the safe for you."
With that, he extended his chubby hand, placing the items on the table in front of Natalie.
For a moment, Natalie's expression froze.
He had brought a handful of diamonds?
And each one was a large, uncut diamond, each one heavy and incredibly valuable!
Under the light, the diamonds sparkled brilliantly, their cold, noble light reflecting in the dimness.
Mike rubbed his hands together, smiling at Natalie.
"I have lots and lots of them. Do you like them? Girls should like shiny things."
