Chapter 357 You Acted Well
Gabriel's words suddenly gave her a feeling of heartache.
How could she feel heartache for Gabriel?
She pressed her lips together, her eyes suddenly stinging.
Quickly, she tried to ignore the feeling, looked up to meet his gaze, and gave a faint, indifferent smile.
"Good to know."
The corners of Gabriel's eyes turned red, his lips pressed into a tight line. His tall figure exuded a sense of loneliness.
He wanted to threaten, but she wasn't afraid.
He wanted to show weakness, but she didn't feel heartache.
Facing Natalie, he seemed to have no more tricks up his sleeve.
Leo, who came out of the private room, heard the commotion and hurried over to ask for his help.
"Gabriel, quick! Vincent is taking Donna to the hospital. Natalie, you're here too?"
Natalie gave a faint smile as a greeting, said nothing more, and turned to leave.
Her departing figure was isolated and resolute, swift and decisive.
Gabriel's mind was filled with Natalie's indifferent gaze, piercing his heart like a dagger.
He didn't scream or lose his composure, his eyes devoid of any emotion, very calm.
But the tightly clenched fist at his side, with veins bulging, betrayed the storm raging inside him.
Leo called out to him, but he didn't respond, immediately understanding what was going on.
Just as he was about to say a few comforting words, Gabriel turned and walked away.
Leo called him a few more times, but he didn't answer. He saw the brewing storm in Gabriel's eyes.
Sensing trouble, he was about to chase after him, but then there was a scream from Vincent's direction.
He hurriedly went back.
Natalie returned to the private room, and Rex knew from her return that Gabriel had been defeated.
In love, whoever compromises first has to endure the grievances.
Felix ordered her a bottle of wine, but Natalie had lost the mood to drink.
Her mind was filled with the image of Gabriel's reddened eyes, making it impossible for her to calm down.
Had she gone too far?
But he had to accept reality; she would have a boyfriend, and he would have another wife.
Walking down the corridor, a few private rooms away from Vincent's, it wasn't close.
So no one noticed that the building's layout was a winding, irregular S-shape. Standing on the balcony could just see the balcony of Vincent's private room next door.
Natalie went to the balcony to get some fresh air, and Leo, who had come out for the same reason, immediately hid behind the curtain.
He couldn't afford to provoke Natalie.
Rex came over with a glass of wine and handed it to her.
"Feeling down?"
Natalie took it, smiled, and looked at the bustling city outside through the railing, the hazy intoxication enveloping the entire city.
"Not as good as you."
Rex couldn't help but laugh. "That's because you acted well."
He clinked his glass lightly against hers, the crisp sound resonating, then downed his drink in one go.
Natalie took a sip of the wine, its rich sweetness and moderate thickness dancing on her tongue.
"You played along well, too. We look like a real couple."
Leo's legs started to tremble with fear, terrified of being discovered by Natalie.
Finally, when the two on the balcony left, he nervously took out his phone and sent the recorded audio to Gabriel.
Now, he could sleep soundly.
Gabriel heard the notification on his phone, picked it up, and played the recording.
"That's because you acted well." Rex's voice.
"You played along well, too. We look like a real couple." Natalie's voice.
The two clinked their glasses in unison.
Gabriel froze for a moment, then listened again. The gloom in his chest suddenly vanished, the melancholy and storm in his eyes dissipating.
He smiled, realizing it was all fake.
He breathed a sigh of relief, leaned back against the car, and closed his eyes.
Opening them again, he instructed the driver.
"Tell Brad to come back."
Since Natalie and Rex's relationship was fake, he didn't need to worry about Rex anymore.
"Yes, sir." The driver didn't dare to slack off.
