Chapter 276 How Much Is She Worth

Right when things were getting heated, the weather took a wild turn. Dark clouds loomed over the sea, and the ocean was eerily calm, like the calm before the storm.

It was like nature was setting the stage for the chaos about to go down.

The silence between them was thick and heavy, like it could blow up any second.

Natalie was facing a bunch of hardcore, well-trained pirates.

And she was just a castaway, stuck in this mess.

But she didn't show an ounce of fear. Her hand was steady on the gun, aimed right at the pirate's head under her foot, making sure he didn't dare move a muscle.

She looked up, staring down the barrels of dozens of guns pointed at her.

Felix saw this and went pale as a ghost.

He couldn't help but drop to his knees.

Natalie glanced at him and said, "Don't freak out. Get behind me. When the shooting starts, run and don't look back."

There was a forest behind them, a better shot at getting away!

Felix was stunned. He was an adventurer, for crying out loud. What hadn't he faced?

He'd survived all kinds of natural disasters—no food, no water, no fire.

He'd dealt with attacks from native tribes, fallen off cliffs, and even been robbed by pirates before—he'd seen it all.

But now, he was scared out of his mind, shaking to his core.

It was that gut-wrenching feeling of death looming over him, making his scalp tingle and his feet go numb.

People always feel helpless in the face of death!

But what did Natalie say?

She told him not to be scared and to get behind her.

Felix gritted his teeth, stood up straight, and tried to push down the panic in his eyes.

Could he really let a woman stand in front of him?

"I won't run. I said I'd protect you!"

He'd said it offhandedly before, but now he remembered that promise with a fierce determination.

Natalie still wanted him to run; saving one was better than none.

But before she could say anything, the pirate across from them barked, "Enough talk, shoot."

Natalie's heart sank. This was bad.

The guy she was holding wasn't important.

Otherwise, the pirates wouldn't be so chill about his life.

In a split second, she sensed the pirates' movements, their killing intent clear as day.

She glanced around quickly.

Not far to the left was a reef, a decent spot for cover.

Her gun didn't have many bullets left.

There were too many of them, and her chances were slim to none.

Once the shooting started, how long could she hold out?

From any angle, she was screwed!

"Wait."

She took a deep breath and said, "Let's talk."

The pirate across from her was pissed, his eyes showing he wasn't in the mood for negotiating.

Natalie pressed on, "Let's discuss your terms. My plane crashed, and we ended up here by accident. We don't have to be enemies. Let us go, and you can name your price."

The guy looked at her with disdain, his face cold and angry.

"Name a price? How much do you think you're worth?"

Natalie was about to answer when the pirate she was holding down suddenly broke free and swung a punch at her.

She stumbled back, just in time to kick Felix behind another reef.

"Why are you still talking? Humiliated by a woman, and you haven't shot yet?" the shorter, skinnier pirate ordered.

As soon as he said that, gunfire erupted, and Natalie reacted instantly.

She ducked down, quickly hiding behind a lower reef.

Bullets flew everywhere, the sound deafening!

Bullets ricocheted off the stone, stray shots whizzing past her ears—her blood was pumping, her whole body cold, her scalp tingling.

Death was right there, breathing down her neck!
