Chapter 61 Worthless Little Things

In an instant, she found herself perceiving Charlie in a new light. His seriousness and charm were suddenly apparent, causing her to lose her focus momentarily. He was a far cry from the carefree playboy he had been three years ago.

Despite her flustered state, she managed to keep her emotions hidden. She had no intention of getting entangled in another love affair.

"Charlie," she said, "your ability to charm women seems to be improving."

Charlie responded with a smile and a step back. "Not everyone is worthy of my charm," he retorted.

"True," Natalie conceded, raising an eyebrow in playful mockery. "With your reputation, I'm sure others are usually the ones trying to charm you." Charlie's past was no secret.

Charlie scoffed at her comment. "That's all behind me. You know those relationships were all for show. I'm innocent."

"Alright," she replied, her voice heavy with exhaustion. "Thank you for your comforting words, but I'm really tired." She couldn't afford to lose herself in another man's tenderness, especially not Charlie's. Their friendship was too valuable to risk.

Seeing her less desolate than before, Charlie reached out and gently patted her head. His gaze was warm and indulgent. "I'll leave now. Rest well," he said, his frivolous demeanor replaced with an attractive maturity.

'He's really charming!' Natalie thought to herself. But she was confident in her ability to resist his charm.

Her gaze fell on the emerald ring lying untouched on the table. She picked it up and examined it, her smile gradually fading. With a casual flick of her wrist, she tossed the ring aside and retired to her room. If Blair knew how she was treating his cherished ring, he would undoubtedly be furious!

She slept until ten o'clock that night, awakening to a message from Victor.

Victor: [I have to go abroad for three days, please look after the company.]

Victor's calmness surprised her. She had only been in charge of the company for a few days, and yet he trusted her so implicitly.

Assuming he was on a plane and unable to call, Natalie responded to his message.

Natalie: [If I mess up, you can't blame me. Be prepared to solve problems, bro!]

Victor: [The company won't go bankrupt, everything is just minor issues.]

Feeling reassured, Natalie suddenly remembered something. She jumped out of bed, turned on the lights, and took a close-up photo of the emerald ring. She posted it on Instagram with the caption: [This is my new worthless little thing, feel free to appreciate it!]

She wouldn't let others be happy if she wasn't.

Soon, Kelly and a few others reposted her Instagram post. Gabriel saw it shortly after.

Now everyone knew that Blair's treasure had become Natalie's "worthless little thing"!

After eating a little, Natalie fell back asleep, blissfully unaware that Blair hadn't eaten all night because of her photo!

She woke up just after eight in the morning to a call from Kelly.

"What's up?" she asked.

"You didn't see that I reposted your Instagram? Many people are inquiring. Someone wants to buy your emerald ring at a high price. Someone offered twelve million dollars!"

Natalie woke up fully, a smile playing on her lips. The offers had doubled. The ring was worth much more than she had initially thought.

"They can just look. I don't intend to sell it," she replied.

Kelly laughed. "I know one of them. I probed him. He turned out to be acting on Leo's orders. It seems to be Gabriel's idea. They must be getting anxious."

Natalie raised an eyebrow. This was expected. She wouldn't sell something she had in hand.

After chatting with Kelly for a while, Natalie realized it was time to get ready for work. With Victor away, she couldn't afford to slack off.

She decided to drive herself to work and went to the garage to choose a car. The luxury cars Ulysses had custom-ordered from abroad had all been delivered. The entire garage looked like a luxury car exhibition, filled with various styles that left her in awe. She walked around, unsure of what to choose .

Among them, the most understated one was a gray Cayenne. Despite its high price, its design wasn't too flashy.

She made her decision!

Just as Natalie was getting into the car, the butler of the Clark Villa saw her through the garage's remote monitoring system and quickly called her. "Ms. Clark, do you need a driver? He'll be here in five minutes."
