Chapter 442 Arrogant You
In that moment, the tension between the two men was palpable, like the air had turned to ice.
Robert kept his cool, his face showing no signs of hostility. He even managed a faint, almost imperceptible smile.
"So what if I am?"
Gabriel was struggling to keep his anger in check. The thought of someone else wanting what was his made his blood boil.
Robert was powerful in the shadows, but Gabriel's wealth was out in the open for everyone to see.
In terms of power, they were probably on equal footing.
But Gabriel quickly reined in his emotions. Anger was a weakness, and he had never been one to lose.
His face was cast in shadows, the fireworks in the background occasionally lighting it up. He stared at Robert with a dark, intense look.
"Mr. Williams, you're way too confident."
A man with a kid, a past marriage, and all that baggage. How could Natalie ever give him a chance?
Gabriel knew her well; she wasn't the type to jump into another relationship.
Robert stayed calm, his voice steady.
"I won't."
He seemed sure of himself.
Gabriel turned his cold gaze away, his collar slightly open, and glanced over at Jagger. Jagger got the message. If not now, then when?
He hurried over, a bit out of breath after just a few steps.
He glanced at Robert, who looked cool and detached, and said deliberately, "Mr. Kensington, you should go find the single Ms. Clark. Under this beautiful moonlight, you two lovebirds should be inseparable."
With that, he started pushing Gabriel's wheelchair, carefully but quickly moving away.
Robert stood still, letting out a light chuckle, and silently shifted his gaze in a nearby direction.
People were milling about.
Mike was happily holding Natalie's arm, occasionally looking around at interesting things.
Ulysses couldn't hide his joy.
It was rare for him to feel so relaxed and lively, with his beloved Natalie by his side. He didn't have to worry about anything—it was practically paradise.
Since they were here, they couldn't miss catching up with old friends, especially with a light schedule.
She had already made plans, setting the time for tomorrow evening.
Jagger pushed Gabriel quickly, not forgetting to remind him.
"Mr. Kensington, I think Mr. Williams is into Ms. Clark. It's all because Ms. Clark is too beautiful. You can't be careless. I think their relationship is much better than yours."
Gabriel's expression darkened.
He was about to agree with Jagger, but hearing his last sentence, he instantly lost the desire to say anything.
Seeing Gabriel's displeased expression, Jagger tried to comfort him.
"But Ms. Clark probably won't be interested in him. Even though he's rich, he has a kid, and it's already grown. When he dies, how will the inheritance be divided? Rich people are too complicated!"
Gabriel's expression softened a bit, and Jagger continued:
"But I think Ms. Clark likes Mike. What if she doesn't mind being a stepmom?"
"Shut up!"
Gabriel's face turned grim, his fingers gripping the sides of the wheelchair, knuckles white.
"If that day ever comes, you better jump into the Serenity River and figure something out!"
Otherwise, why would he put up with Jagger's constant noise? For fun?
He brought Jagger along to come up with solutions. If he couldn't, then he might as well die.
Jagger shivered, suddenly feeling a chill in the air. He decided it was best to keep quiet.
