Chapter 416 This Kind of Rough Work

Nathan thought he was in for a good show.

Gabriel shot him a cold glance. "Natalie's got better taste than to go for a guy like that."

If Dax had even a shred of composure and confidence, Gabriel wouldn't let him off so easily. Thinking of someone like him as competition was an insult to Natalie, Gabriel thought.

Natalie and Robert's conversation flowed smoothly, their opinions aligning on many matters. When they emerged, it had been about half an hour. Robert had to return to his hotel for some business, and Natalie walked him to the door.

"Has Mike been scared off by the car accident? He hasn't shown up lately," Natalie said.

Robert smiled politely. "He's been through war; a car accident wouldn't scare him. I've hired a few tutors for him, and he's got a lot of homework."

Natalie understood immediately. Kids don't have any freedom; she felt a pang of sympathy for him.

"If you want to see him, you can come over anytime. He misses you a lot," Robert added.

Natalie nodded. "Sure."

They stood by the elevator, waiting for it to arrive, when Gabriel's voice came from behind. "Heading home?"

Natalie paused, slightly surprised. Gabriel hadn't left yet?

Robert nodded politely to him, and Gabriel returned the gesture with a faint nod. His gaze remained fixed on Natalie, a smile playing on his lips. "Since you're done, why don't we head home together?"

His words carried an ambiguous undertone. Head home together?

Natalie was momentarily stunned, then glanced at the time. It was indeed time to leave. "I have to."

She instinctively tried to refuse. "Jagger brought me here, but he's already left. You wouldn't let me go home alone, would you?" Gabriel's tone was light, almost teasing.

Natalie rolled her eyes. So dramatic!

The elevator dinged as it arrived. Robert waited politely, and Gabriel didn't intend to wheel himself in. He looked at Natalie with an innocent yet weak expression.

Should she push his wheelchair in front of Robert? Or let Robert do it?

The balance between these two powerful men was delicate; disrupting it wouldn't be pretty.

Natalie couldn't bear the thought of Robert pushing Gabriel's wheelchair, so she stepped forward and wheeled Gabriel into the elevator, standing behind him.

Gabriel seemed pleased, his lips curling slightly.

After a couple of seconds, Robert didn't enter. He nodded politely. "I forgot to take the flowers with me. Leaving them behind wouldn't be right. I'll say goodbye for now."

Gabriel nodded slightly, offering a distant, polite smile, and pressed the close button. Natalie was speechless.

The elevator was quiet for a moment. Natalie looked down, texting Dax to remind him of a few things.

Elijah was waiting downstairs, and as soon as the elevator arrived, he walked over.

Natalie had just stepped out when Gabriel called her from behind, "Natalie."

She had forgotten he was still in the elevator. He was waiting for her to push him. She paused, frowning, about to go back when Elijah quickly stepped in.

"Ms. Clark, let me handle this."

Gabriel was helpless. Natalie nodded in satisfaction and continued walking. Elijah swiftly pushed Gabriel, moving quickly and somewhat unsteadily.

He rubbed his forehead, gritting his teeth. He regretted letting Jagger leave so early.

At home, Natalie wanted to quickly organize her thoughts from the meeting and left Gabriel with Elijah.

As soon as she entered, Jagger had cleaned the house thoroughly. He was wearing a pink apron and rushed over to help her with her shoes.

"Ms. Clark, you're back. You work so hard, yet you maintain such stunning beauty. How do you do it? I made some nutritious vegetable soup for you. It's delicious and won't make you gain weight!"

Jagger beamed at her, and Natalie was momentarily speechless.
