Chapter 56 Can’t afford

The staff member placed the ring politely in front of Natalie. Natalie raised the ring and examined it, admiring its rich and layered colors. Indeed, it looked impressive and deserved to be collected.

"Thank you," Natalie said to the staff member.

She completely ignored the two people beside her. Wendy couldn't hold back and coldly hummed, "Natalie, are you blind? Can't you even greet me when you see me?"

Natalie thought, 'How did you treat me in the past? You never regarded me, but now you act so superior?'

She glanced at Wendy and raised an eyebrow. "Well, Mrs. Kensington, you're here too. What a coincidence."

Her words were full of provocation.

Wendy's face turned pale with anger. "You are audacious. Do you think just because you have backing, you can disregard me? Don't forget I am your mother."

When Natalie was still married, Wendy never considered herself Natalie's mother-in-law. She always saw herself as the hostess and treated Natalie like a servant.

Every time Wendy returned to the Kensington Villa, she would openly and covertly mock Natalie's lowly status and groveling, making Natalie do household chores and frequently reprimanding and punishing her. Wendy would also bring many socialites to the villa, giving them Gabriel's number, all to force Natalie to back down.

At that time, Natalie was the person Wendy hated the most in her eyes.

Natalie couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Are you getting forgetful in your old age? I divorced your son a long time ago, so you can be a mother to other women."

"Natalie, you are so rude. How can you speak to my mother like that?" Angela couldn't help but speak. Previously, she had become timid due to Natalie's retaliation, so now she felt anxious upon seeing Natalie.

Luckily, Wendy was here, so Angela gained confidence.

The atmosphere became tense in an instant. Natalie restrained her smile and coldly glanced at Angela. "Do you want to lecture me?"

Angela shrank back and did not dare to make a sound, looking at her mother, Wendy.

Wendy and Angela had initially planned to put Natalie in her place and take away her ring. But Natalie didn't play by their rules at all.

If there weren't staff members in the room, Wendy would have done it straightforwardly. How could she have the patience to argue with Natalie?

Wendy was a bit nervous. "Natalie, I'll give you thirty million dollars, and I'll take it away."
She had just contacted Gabriel, but secrets couldn't be kept forever. If the emerald ring was really taken by Natalie, not only Blair, but even Patrick wouldn't let her off the hook.

Natalie paused for a moment, smiled and said, "If you had thirty million dollars, you could have mentioned it when you were bidding just now. We could have competed fairly, but it's too late now."

"I have contacted Gabriel, he'll be here soon."

Wendy knew how obsessed Natalie was with her son, so she thought that when Gabriel arrived, Natalie would compromise just to see him.

"Whether he comes or not, this ring is mine."

Natalie smiled and thought, 'Does she really think I'm the same foolish woman from three years ago? Does she think I would do anything just at the mention of Gabriel's name?'

"Natalie, thirty million dollars is not a small sum. Can you really afford it?"

Wendy didn't believe that the poor Natalie could easily come up with thirty million dollars. When Natalie entered the Kensington family, she was discriminated against and had nothing. Having a daughter-in-law like her made Wendy feel ashamed.

Now, although Angela said that Natalie had many men around her, those men were not fools. Did they spend money on a divorced woman just because they were stupid?

Natalie laughed and took out a black card from her bag, handing it to the staff nearby. "Swipe it."

She didn't hesitate at all.

"Alright, Ms. Clark." The staff member took it with both hands.

Wendy and Angela's faces turned pale as they glared at Natalie. Angela was so anxious that she kept making phone calls behind her.

‘Who is she calling? Is it Gabriel?’ Natalie pondered.

Natalie smiled and thought, 'It doesn't matter who comes!'

Thirty million dollars will be spent in a second, and Natalie didn't have a hint of hesitation or doubt on her face.

As long as she was happy, she could even afford a price higher than thirty million dollars.

"You don't need this ring, so why are you spending so much money to buy it?" Wendy's attitude softened as she tried to approach the topic indirectly.

"I just wanted to show everyone and you know that the ring is Mr. Kensington's fate. If he loses it, he will be very disappointed. Can you bear to see his later years being unhappy?"

As she spoke, Wendy began to cry.

Natalie thought, 'Who is she acting with?'

She looked at them coldly, thinking in her mind how funny it all was.

"Since it's Mr. Kensington's fate, by bringing it out, aren't you seeking his fate? If his later years are unhappy, it's because of you. Why should I worry?"
"I acquired this ring through legal means, and the people here can attest to it," said Mr. Kensington, who had been a dominant figure in the business world for his entire life. Therefore, Natalie believed he would understand the meaning of integrity.

"Alright, Ms. Clark," the staff member cautiously handed her the card.

Natalie took the card and signed her name on the relevant documents, officially making the ring hers.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open.
