Chapter 456 I Am Very Willing

Elijah glanced at Natalie. She raised an eyebrow and nodded, and Elijah quickly left the room.

Now, it was just the two of them.

The atmosphere was tense, almost chilly.

Natalie smiled. "Since we're done eating, you should get some rest."

She stood up gracefully, ready to leave.

She didn't notice the fleeting look of hurt in Gabriel's cold eyes, which quickly dissipated like mist.

Everything seemed within reach, yet he couldn't grasp anything.

"Natalie,"

His voice was hoarse, fragile.

Natalie paused and turned to look at him.

"What is it?"

"That photo, why did you post it?"

Gabriel's lips pressed into a thin line, his gaze filled with deep sorrow, as if it held an unending sadness.

His eyes were brimming with intense emotions.

It was like he was waiting for something, yet afraid of it at the same time.

He didn't ask because he didn't care, but because he feared he couldn't handle the answer.

Natalie smiled, brushing her hair back, her smile deepening.

"Because he's my new boyfriend."

If a lie could make Gabriel give up, she would use it as an excuse to make him back off.

In an instant, Gabriel's face turned even paler, the hurt in his eyes unmistakable. He was in extreme pain.

It felt like a boulder was lodged in his chest, making it hard to breathe.

The corners of his eyes reddened, struggling to hold back the immense sadness and pain.

His fists clenched tightly, then loosened weakly.

He didn't even know what to strive for anymore.

Natalie was free, a freedom he had given her himself. He had tasted the bitter fruit of this decision, and it was utterly hopeless.

The room was deathly quiet.

Natalie glanced at him, her tone indifferent. "One day, we'll both have new people in our lives. Mr. Kensington, you should prepare for that."

Prepare for a new life.

With that, she left the room.

As soon as the door closed, she looked up and saw her "new boyfriend" standing across from her.

He had been standing there for quite a while.

So, he had heard everything she said.

Natalie's expression changed slightly, and she immediately felt guilty.

The atmosphere between them was subtle and hard to describe.

Robert was the first to speak, his voice calm and gentle.

"I was going to say goodbye to Mr. Kensington earlier, but since someone was inside, I waited out here."

Natalie wanted to act nonchalant, but it was too difficult.

She bit her lip and gave an awkward smile.

"I'm sorry for the trouble. I've already deleted that photo."

Just making up an excuse.

Robert's tone was mild, yet it carried a warmth that was different from indifference.

"It's no problem. I'm happy to help."

"What?"

Natalie couldn't help but be surprised. Did she hear him right?

Robert met her gaze, smiling with a noble and open demeanor. The mystery and humility he exuded were irresistibly attractive.

"If it helps you get rid of unwanted attention, I'm more than happy to assist. After all, you are someone Mike cares about."

In other words, because Natalie had saved Mike, Robert didn't mind helping her.

Natalie was taken aback for a moment, then she sighed in relief. Her doubts vanished. So that was it.

Robert had seen through her intentions.

Natalie relaxed a bit and smiled. "Thank you for not blaming me."

"Not at all. If you need, I can always help you with your act."

Robert's serious expression showed he wasn't joking.
