Chapter 65 The Despicable One
Natalie's admission was cool and collected. She confessed that under normal circumstances, she would never cling to another's cherished possession. But this was not a normal circumstance. Her disdain for the Kensington family was palpable. She had intentionally purchased the ring to unsettle them, to deny them happiness. She confessed all this without any pretense.
"Ms. Kensington," she said, her voice steady and unyielding, "I am not a kind and weak person. I won't allow anyone to trample over me without retaliation. I remember how you treated me in the past." She was not one to forgive and forget easily.
Angela's fury flared at Natalie's candid confession. The audacity of her admission was more infuriating than any denial could have been. Angela shot a heated glare at Blair, then took a deep breath, softening her tone. She turned her tear-filled, innocent eyes towards Natalie.
"Natalie, I was wrong before. I was young and ignorant. Please forgive me. I sincerely apologize to you. I'm sorry. I'll do anything for your forgiveness. I hope you can return Grandpa's ring. My mother has been grounded because of my mistake, and Grandpa has scolded me. If you're still not satisfied, you can slap me twice." She looked up at Natalie, whose expression remained unmoved, even mocking. Angela suddenly felt her act falter, leaving her standing stiffly in place.
Natalie regarded Angela with interest, finding her truly despicable in that moment. Blair, noticing Natalie's lack of reaction, cleared his throat, suppressing the gloom in his eyes, and spoke reluctantly.
"Natalie, the Kensington family has indeed wronged you. Angela came here to apologize. You can set any conditions."
Apology? Natalie didn't perceive Angela's actions as an apology; rather, it seemed more like shameless blackmail, almost laughable. She gave Angela a dismissive glance. "I don't accept the apology, and I won't return the ring." Despite their pleas, she refused to compromise.
Blair's expression changed slightly. Unable to contain his mounting anger, he blurted out, "Natalie, what do you want to do?" He couldn't hold back any longer.
"I don't want to do anything. Mr. Kensington, if you have nothing else, I need to get back to work." She was tired of their endless chatter. Blair snorted coldly, his gaze sharp.
"I gave you a chance, but since you don't want it, don't blame me for being rude."
"What?" Natalie raised an eyebrow. "What do you want to do?"
Blair took out his phone. "Victor dotes on a divorced woman like you. I'm curious, does the Chairman of the Clark Group know? I happen to know him. If I tell him your identity, do you think you still have the right to sit here?" He was threatening her.
Natalie paused for a few seconds, her smile deepening. "Feel free." She wasn't afraid. She laughed inwardly. The Chairman of the Clark Group was her dad!
Blair's gaze turned icy. Seeing Natalie's response, he dialed the number directly. Angela watched Natalie smugly, thinking she was about to face trouble. Angela was relishing the thought!
The phone rang. After a few seconds, Ulysses answered, his voice relaxed. "Mr. Kensington, what's up?"
Blair snorted lightly, "Mr. Ulysses, I heard you went on vacation a few days ago. Seems like you're in a good mood."
"Yes, when you're old, you have to travel more. If you have nothing, I'll hang up. I'm fishing."
Natalie raised an eyebrow. Her father despised the Kensington family and had no interest in socializing with Blair.
Blair's tone shifted. "Mr. Ulysses, your son has been getting along well with a divorced woman recently. Do you know about this?"
"Really? I had no idea."
