Chapter 233 Interrupting the Good Show
Charlie noticed that the zipper on the back of Natalie's dress wasn't fully zipped up.
Her bare shoulders and the expanse of skin were stunning.
Her long hair had been covering it, so no one noticed before.
But when she lifted her hair, he caught the detail right away.
Natalie paused, surprised, and turned around.
Charlie was already helping her fix the dress.
Just then, the lounge door swung open.
"Oops, sorry, Natalie. Didn't mean to interrupt you and Mr. Walker. Please, carry on."
That sugary, fake voice? Natalie knew it was Mary.
She shot her a cold look. "You should get your eyes checked."
Charlie let go of the dress and snorted. "Who's being rude now?"
Mary hesitated, bit her lip, and opened the door wider.
It wasn't just her standing there.
Gabriel was there too.
His tall frame blocked the light from outside, and he looked at them with a stern, brooding gaze.
Mary's eyes darted between Charlie and Natalie, her voice cautious. "I'm Natalie's cousin, Mary."
"Natalie, I'm really sorry. I must have been mistaken. I saw Mr. Walker taking off your clothes and thought..."
She trailed off, looking all pitiful like she'd been wronged.
Natalie glanced at Gabriel behind her, then back at Mary.
"You thought? How do you come up with such dirty ideas? Done this kind of thing a lot, have you?"
Mary's face fell instantly.
Natalie sneered. 'Acting in front of me? That's amateur hour!'
"Natalie, you misunderstood. I really didn't mean to. I spilled wine on Mr. Kensington's clothes, so I brought him up to change. I didn't know you were using this lounge."
Mary bit her lip, looking all sad and innocent.
Natalie noticed some dark stains on Gabriel's jacket.
It was wine, alright.
But whether it was an accident or on purpose, who knew?
Natalie smirked. "Looks like we interrupted your little moment. Mr. Walker, you still want to watch the show?"
Charlie raised an eyebrow, stepped forward, and offered his wrist for her to hold.
As they reached the door, Mary quickly moved aside.
But Gabriel stood there like a mountain.
His gaze was dark and cold, clearly not planning to move.
Natalie looked up calmly. "Mr. Kensington, could you step aside?"
"What do you mean by 'show'?" Gabriel's voice was icy.
'Oh, so he's picking apart my words now? Fine, let's play. This is my turf!' Natalie's smile grew, a hint of mockery in her eyes as she glanced at Mary's anxious face.
"Exactly what it sounds like. There are dozens of people here today. Mary, being so 'perceptive,' spills wine on you and then drags you to the lounge. If it wasn't for the 'show' to follow, who'd buy it?"
Gabriel's face hardened, his gaze icy and displeased.
Mary, caught out, wasn't about to admit it.
She looked at Gabriel, panicked. "Of course not, I really didn't mean to."
Her eyes welled up, looking all pitiful.
"Natalie, even if you don't like me, you don't have to insult me like this."
Natalie laughed. "Insult you? Do you really need anyone else to do that?"
What Mary did was already dirty enough.
She didn't bother looking at Mary again.
Total waste of time.
Natalie stepped forward.
Gabriel stood firm, his lips a tight line.
His face was stern, brows furrowed.
As Natalie got closer, she caught the faint scent of his cologne mixed with a hint of alcohol, his whole vibe cold and stern.
He didn't budge.
Natalie reached out and touched the part of his jacket stained by the wine, raising an eyebrow slightly.
They were very close. Close enough for Natalie to hear his heartbeat.
With a slight smirk, she looked up at him, her demeanor cool and regal.
"Mr. Kensington, you should hurry up and change."
Her words were loaded with meaning.
Gabriel's gaze turned even colder, and suddenly, he grabbed Natalie's hand and pulled her away.
She didn't have time to react before being shoved into the next room.
The door slammed shut.
She was pinned against the wall, his hand beside her, his scent all around her.
It took her a few seconds to process, frowning as she looked up at him.
Her voice was ice-cold. "Mr. Kensington, what do you think you're doing?"
The intimate action and the close distance made Natalie very uncomfortable.
She wasn't the same person she was three years ago.
No longer the girl who'd lose her mind over a single glance from Gabriel.
This whole situation made her feel out of control.
