Chapter 475 Drink This Cup

Briar nodded and headed to the break room.

In her mind, Yasmin epitomized wealth. She could effortlessly navigate social circles for the sake of the family business, earning even Francis's constant praise.

To accommodate Yasmin's feelings, Francis could forever deny Briar's existence. If they didn't need an unmarried daughter for an alliance, she would have been stuck in that cramped, old apartment forever.

Briar carried the coffee to the conference room.

As she opened the door, she saw Gabriel chatting with Nathan, exuding a calm and composed demeanor. But when his gaze shifted to Natalie, it softened noticeably.

It was a stark contrast to the disdain and indifference he showed Briar, which was almost intoxicating.

The three of them seemed to inhabit a distant world, one that ordinary people couldn't touch.

Gabriel looked up and noticed Briar, his expression immediately turning cold and harsh.

Briar pretended not to see it, quietly walked in, and placed the coffee on the table. "Here's your coffee."

Natalie turned at the sound, her calm eyes assessing Briar. Before she could speak, Gabriel's voice cut in, icy and severe.

"What are you doing here?"

He glanced at Nathan, questioning why Briar was in his territory.

Nathan shrugged innocently, then seemed to remember something. "She must be the new assistant from the Clark Group, right? Dax needed more hands, didn't he?" he asked Natalie.

Natalie paused for a moment, then nodded, looking at Briar with a serious expression. "Since you're in a new position, make sure you adapt well. Don't let your background interfere with the company's work."

Briar tensed up immediately. She hadn't expected such a reaction from Natalie.

Calm, composed, and slightly condescending.

A simple statement that seemed to accept her presence while also warning her.

She nodded, suppressing the turmoil inside. "Understood, Ms. Clark."

She knew that with her qualifications and abilities, she wouldn't have gotten even this assistant position without Francis pulling strings behind the scenes.

To bring her closer to Gabriel's circle, to make her try her hardest to emulate Natalie.

Gabriel frowned, his gaze icy, his face impassive but uncomfortable.

He stared at Natalie, trying to discern something from her expression.

It didn't make sense.

Clark Group and Vasquez Group had no dealings.

Coincidence?

Briar proactively handed the two unsweetened, black coffees to the men and the one with milk to Natalie, then prepared to take meeting notes.

Natalie took a small sip, then set the cup aside, focusing back on the discussion.

"Mr. Williams is requesting additional investment. He has high hopes for the future of artificial intelligence and great confidence in domestic research capabilities. However, he insists that once the project matures, it should be listed in Mylan, which he believes will make a global impact."

Gabriel's expression darkened.

When he worked, he was all business, his tone becoming detached. "He's been in Mylan too long to understand the domestic landscape. Looking ahead, Lumeria is the place to be. I don't agree with listing in Mylan."

Nathan added, "Mr. Williams's idea is sound. Given the current situation, listing in Mylan could maximize benefits and attract global attention, elevating our project to an unassailable position. But I can't shake the feeling of betrayal."

Natalie frowned, tapping the table thoughtfully.

Seeing this, Briar quickly stepped forward to refill her coffee, her movements careful and precise.
