Chapter 389 Admiration

In the car.

Ulysses took out a stack of photos from the side.

"I got these from the police. They are investigating openly, and we need to investigate secretly."

Natalie took them and, for a moment, as she looked at the car, she seemed to see Gabriel pushing her out in a daze.

The car's speed soared to 110. How did he dare to run over?

Natalie's fingertips turned white and trembled slightly.

Victor sighed, "We owe Gabriel two favors, Natalie. He probably won't let you go that easily!"

If it were easy, why would he risk his life again and again?

Ulysses closed his eyes, "But we can't force Natalie to be with him. Although I have started to admire Gabriel, everything should be based on Natalie's wishes."

Natalie pursed her lips, her heart skipped a beat, and she lowered her eyes without speaking.

The next photo was of the person in the wrecked vehicle they had taken.

The person who wanted Natalie dead.

A completely unfamiliar face, someone who wouldn't stand out in a crowd. His head was covered in blood, he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and he was slumped over the steering wheel, looking as if he were dead.

Natalie frowned, and Victor spoke, "The driver died on the spot. He had been drinking, and the police initially ruled it as drunk driving. But his account mysteriously received a million dollars, transferred from an overseas account, so they didn't dare to close the case easily."

"A million dollars to buy my life?" Natalie murmured.

Thinking about it, it was utterly ridiculous.

Victor pursed his lips, "For an unemployed drunk, this might have been his only chance to ever see a million dollars."

"Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this. For your safety, it's best not to go out for a while. Even if you do, take bodyguards with you. You can't rely on luck every time."

Ulysses looked at Natalie with worried and tired eyes, his gaze darkened.

Victor nodded in agreement.

Natalie paused, "I can't hide. Let the bodyguards suffer."

She was very clear about this.

She wanted to know who wanted her dead.

She would get back at them big time.

As soon as she got home, she collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

She was exhausted, her whole body aching and tired.

When she opened her eyes again, she saw the evening glow reflecting off the messy treetops outside the window, quiet and warm, just like many bright evenings before, unbelievably beautiful.

It was already evening.

She had slept for a whole day and night without even dreaming.

On the bedside table was a new phone. Victor had entered all her contacts and installed all the apps.

She picked it up and saw countless calls and messages.

Some were asking if she was okay, and others were asking if Gabriel was okay.

In their group chat.

Kelly: [I've changed my opinion of Gabriel this time. Someone who would risk his life for you, you should seriously consider him!]

Mia: [Same here.]

Kelly: [But don't feel pressured. If you can't be a couple, you can be friends. We don't hate him.]

Mia: [Same here.]

Kelly: [Do you have no opinions of your own, Mia?]

Mia: [You've already said everything, what else can I say?]

Charlie: [Gabriel has impressed me!]
