Chapter 55 She Knew She Had Won
The crowd immediately started discussing, with all eyes focused on Natalie. Rance looked at her puzzledly and said, "What are you doing?"
Natalie smiled and said, "It's pretty, don't you think?"
"I don't think so."
It was just an ordinary emerald ring, what's so special about it?
Natalie saw Wendy and Angela both looking at her, and she smiled slightly as they made eye contact.
The two of them were clearly surprised, they knew she recognized that emerald ring.
When Wendy had Natalie clean the house alone at night, she intentionally took out the emerald ring and didn't put it in the safe, instead leaving it on a high shelf, hoping that Natalie would accidentally break it and be kicked out of the Kensington family by Blair. But she never expected that Natalie wouldn't even touch it.
If it wasn't for the surveillance cameras in the Kensington villa, Wendy would have broken it herself and blamed Natalie. Unfortunately, her plan failed. Blair's insistence on the emerald ring was even more important to him than his own life!
So she never had another chance!
And the reason she stole the emerald ring this time was because Angela had used "Dream" to gamble before, and after coming back, Natalie embarrassed her multiple times, causing her to almost lose her status in high society.
She had to stabilize her position in the circle again, find an opportunity to become the center of attention. As a member of the Kensington family, she had to be in the spotlight.
This charity auction dinner was a great opportunity because it could help her restore her image and maintain her reputation as a socialite. It was simply perfect!
So, Angela could only beg Wendy. She secretly took out Blair's emerald ring and used it as an auction item. The extraordinary value of the emerald ring was enough to make Angela the center of attention.
Those who recognized the ring wouldn't dare to bid, and those who didn't recognize it wouldn't bid either. So her plan was perfect, taking out the ring and then bidding for it herself.
But she didn't expect that they would encounter Natalie here...
Wendy on the side was visibly nervous. Natalie bid without hesitation, and ten million dollars was their limit. They had no power within the Kensington family, receiving allowance money from Patrick every month and not having much savings. It was clear they didn't have the confidence to continue bidding.
They didn't expect Natalie to come. According to Wendy's plan before, even if someone bid, it wouldn't exceed ten million dollars. Even if it did, they wouldn't compete with the Kensington family.
But Natalie was different.
She intentionally opposed them, intentionally opposed the Kensington family!
"Ten million dollars for the first time!"
The host's eyes lit up with excitement as he shouted loudly.
Angela anxiously tugged on Wendy's clothes, as if whispering something.
Wendy pretended to remain calm but turned around and gave Natalie a fierce glare, as if warning her!
Natalie looked at the item on stage with determination. She was determined to get it.
"Ten million dollars, for the second time!" the host announced.
The whole room fell silent as they dared not challenge the Kensington family and didn't want to spend so much money on a useless ring.
The host looked around, then watched as Wendy raised her sign.
"Eleven million dollars," Wendy calmly stated.
They had initially thought the price would only go up to ten million dollars, but Wendy unexpectedly raised it.
"Twelve million dollars!" Natalie followed suit, determined to test their patience.
Natalie's phone rang and she glanced at the number. Though it was not saved in her contacts, she recognized it instantly.
Natalie smiled and hung up, blocking Angela's number in the process.
"Thirteen million dollars," Wendy continued to increase the bid, visibly nervous now.
The host seemed to understand that this was a game between the two sides and tension began to fill the air.
He raised his voice and said, "Alright, thirteen million dollars. Does the young lady want to bid again?"
Natalie didn't respond, and the host assumed she had given up. He then said, "Thirteen million dollars, going once!"
"Thirteen million dollars, going twice!"
Wendy and Angela breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fifteen million dollars!" Natalie immediately raised the bidding at the last moment.
How did Wendy and Angela feel about this?
Wendy's eyes panicked as she exchanged a few words with Angela.
Angela didn't hesitate and confidently declared, "Twenty million dollars!"
Did they think Natalie could only bid up to twenty million dollars?
Even Rance became nervous, looking at Natalie and asking, "Do you need help?"
Natalie smiled and said, "No need, what's this little amount of money?"
She raised her sign again. "Thirty million dollars!"
Everyone was shocked.
Natalie was no longer interested in scaring Wendy and Angela slowly. She wanted to make sure they wouldn't dare to bid again!
Under the flashing lights, Wendy and Angela's faces turned pale and ugly.
"Alright, thirty million dollars, going once!"
"Thirty million dollars, going twice!"
The room fell silent.
Natalie knew she had won.
"Thirty million dollars, going three times! Congratulations to this young lady. The proceeds will be donated to impoverished elementary schools..."
The audience began applauding, finally breaking the tense atmosphere. Natalie politely greeted everyone and then smiled at the two people in the front. She felt really good.
After greeting everyone, Natalie went backstage with Rance to collect the item. As expected, Wendy and Angela didn't give up and were waiting there for her.
