Chapter 418 Favoring the Lady
Natalie kept her cool as she told him, "Robert said he found some clues about the car accident and wants me to meet him at the party. I'll be back later."
Gabriel's face grew serious. "Be careful."
Natalie nodded and started to walk away, with Elijah right behind her.
Jagger hurried to catch up. "I'm coming too! Ms. Clark, let me come with you. I'll keep you safe!"
Natalie didn't want to say anything that might hurt his pride, so she stayed silent.
Elijah rolled his eyes. "With me here, Ms. Clark will be fine."
"Elijah, you'll be out in the open. I'll stay hidden. Double protection is better!" Jagger looked at Gabriel, hoping for support.
Gabriel pressed his lips together. "Take him along. If anything happens, don't worry about his safety."
Jagger was helpless.
Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Fine, whatever."
At the party venue, Elijah got out of the car and opened the door for her. As soon as Natalie stepped out, she saw Robert standing at the entrance.
Robert stood there with a composed and dignified demeanor, exuding an air of mystery and nobility.
As she approached, he nodded slightly. "Don't worry, there are no strangers around."
In other words, there wouldn't be any unexpected danger.
Natalie smiled. She was indeed reassured.
The two of them walked inside, with Elijah trailing a few steps behind, keeping a distance.
Jagger came up from behind, whispering, "Who is that guy?"
"I don't know him," Elijah replied, not wanting to talk.
Jagger persisted, "Is he trying to pursue Ms. Clark? You should go after them. How can you let them be alone together?"
That guy looked extraordinary, cold and noble, clearly not an ordinary person. His presence was on par with Gabriel's, and Jagger instantly felt a sense of crisis!
Elijah's expression remained indifferent, ignoring him.
Jagger slapped his thigh, glanced at the unresponsive Elijah, and decided to rely on himself!
With that thought, he walked in earnest.
Natalie and Robert entered, observing the faces around them, some familiar, some not.
The atmosphere in the banquet hall was quite pleasant, with enchanting music and elegantly dancing couples. It was indeed a great place for business discussions!
"So, Mr. Williams' companion today is Ms. Clark. It seems the collaboration between the two families is unbreakable."
"Don't overthink it. Mr. Williams even gave up on Kensington Group and specifically chose Clark Group for cooperation. We've lost our chance long ago!"
"Why? Is there something more between Mr. Williams and Ms. Clark?"
"Shh. Do you want to get in trouble?"
Those faint whispers reached Natalie's ears, but she merely smiled.
Perhaps they would never understand the real reason.
And they had no interest in explaining it to everyone.
Natalie glanced at Robert with a puzzled look. Robert scanned the surroundings coldly, and the murmurs instantly ceased.
He gently bent his arm, and without needing to say anything, Natalie lightly took it, displaying a flawless smile.
Their intimate posture made outsiders believe in the strength and smoothness of their collaboration.
Soon, three familiar faces approached with wine glasses. Natalie recognized them immediately as the ones who had attended Robert's private gathering at the hotel.
Byron Reyes from Reyes Group.
Lonnie Caldwell from Caldwell Group.
And Kurt Lowe from Lowe Group.
The project had already been finalized, so they didn't need to be overly cautious with Robert. Maintaining a surface-level cordiality was sufficient.
Byron held a cigar, looking more relaxed, and smiled at Natalie with an ambiguous expression.
"Mr. Williams, if I had known you favored ladies, I would have brought my sister that day. She may not be as beautiful and elegant as Ms. Clark, but she's not bad either..."
Robert replied, "In that case, it's fortunate you didn't bring her."
Byron was left speechless.
