Chapter 404 Jagger Arrives
Brad immediately called his cousin.
In less than twenty minutes, a man who looked like he weighed at least 200 pounds appeared in front of Gabriel.
He smiled, his eyes narrowing into slits.
Gabriel paused, his brow furrowing deeply as he looked at Brad standing next to him, his face dark with displeasure.
"Cousin?"
Before Brad could speak, the heavyset man grinned, spitting as he began to introduce himself, "Mr. Kensington, just call me Jagger. Trust me, hiring me as your butler is a decision you won't regret. I guarantee it."
"One month to mend the relationship, three months to rekindle the romance, and within a year, you two will be remarried!"
Jagger spoke with unwavering confidence, setting clear goals to show his determination. He knew if he didn't, he might be shown the door.
Indeed, the moment Gabriel saw him, he thought he must be crazy to let Brad talk him into hiring outside help. But listening to Jagger, he felt maybe it was worth a shot?
Brad frantically signaled Jagger to tone it down, worried that if nothing came of it, he'd be out of a job too.
The study fell silent for a moment.
Gabriel tapped his index finger on the desk.
"You used to be a white-collar worker. Why the career change?"
Gabriel had a keen eye for talent. Even Brad, who had been with him for years, had gone through rigorous selection and testing.
Jagger sighed dramatically, his face drooping as he stomped his foot, causing his flesh to jiggle.
Was he pouting?
"Because every time I ate in the company cafeteria, there wasn't enough food for everyone else. Is that my fault?"
He pouted, clearly annoyed, his words tinged with resentment.
"The boss said my performance was great, but the money I made was offset by the food costs. They couldn't afford to keep me!"
"They were just using me and then discarding me!"
Gabriel's brows tightened slightly, momentarily at a loss for words.
He cleared his throat, his voice cold and steady.
"So, how many successful matches has your matchmaking agency made?"
Jagger froze, then quickly patted his chest.
"You and Ms. Clark will be my first! I promise to give it my all!"
Gabriel's lips twitched, his face growing colder as he shot a frosty glare at Brad.
The first!
Brad was already filled with regret.
He stood there, head hanging low.
Jagger laughed, "Mr. Kensington, shall I start working now?"
Gabriel's gaze was icy and sharp.
"Trial period one day."
He was this close to kicking Jagger out.
But Jagger cheerfully exclaimed, "Great, I'll start cooking!"
Brad was left standing there, enduring Gabriel's deathly stare.
After a long silence, Gabriel gritted his teeth and spoke, "You too, get out!"
Brad didn't hesitate and quickly left.
Gabriel sat in the study, exhaling deeply, rubbing his temples. He must be out of his mind!
Julia had left, and Gabriel hadn't hired a new housekeeper, perhaps still shaken by recent events.
As evening approached, he smelled the aroma of food.
Jagger came up and knocked on the door.
"Mr. Kensington, call Ms. Clark and ask her to come back."
The phone was right there on the desk, but it remained dark and still.
Gabriel looked up, his eyes deep and filled with an indescribable mix of irritation and coldness.
After everything that had happened, he didn't know how to explain it to her!
Jagger, understanding, smiled, "I'll make the call."
Fortunately, before Brad left, he had given Jagger all the important phone numbers and details.
Jagger stepped out and pulled out his phone.
