Chapter 297 All My Investments
Natalie just couldn't bring herself to get out of the car. She sat there, shooting him a cold sideways glance.
No way was she agreeing to remarry.
Gabriel's suggestion? Not even funny.
Gabriel's eyes were dark and intense. "Why'd you lie and say it wasn't you? The person in the photo is obviously you."
Why wouldn't she admit she saved him?
When he finally confirmed it was her, he felt this weird mix of relief and joy.
Natalie sneered. "So what if it was me? Now that you know, what are you gonna do about it?"
That question stumped him.
Seriously, what could he do?
For a moment, Gabriel's face froze, his lips pressed into a tight line.
Usually so calm, he looked like he was about to lose it.
She curled her lips into a slight smile, her red lips parting just a bit.
"Mr. Kensington, can't you see I lied because I don't want anything to do with you anymore? It's all in the past. Forget about remarrying; even being friends again is impossible. Mr. Kensington, you should move on. We'll both marry other people and have nothing to do with each other. No matter who you end up with, I'll send a nice gift to congratulate you."
She was smiling, but her words felt like nails, piercing his heart.
It hurt so much he couldn't speak.
Was it really all in the past?
While he was clueless, she had already drawn a clear line between then and now?
After Natalie finished, she didn't even look at him and was about to get out of the car.
Gabriel's voice came from behind, clear and cold, but with a hint of lingering affection, "Natalie, I saved your life. Are you just gonna deny that?"
Natalie froze.
One hand on the door, she turned to look at him.
His faint smile seemed to carry a barely noticeable bitterness.
"Fine, I won't mention remarrying, but do you have to avoid me? Didn't you say everything in the past is over? Can't we just be regular friends?"
Natalie glanced at him, her brows slightly furrowed.
Gabriel caught her subtle expression change instantly.
He kept a gentle and open smile, but all the emotions in his eyes were hidden.
Natalie's mouth twitched. If he hadn't saved her life, she would've slammed the door and left.
What was Gabriel trying to pull?
Gabriel looked away, his long, art-like fingers gently tapping the steering wheel.
"Since I saved your life, would you do me the honor of watching a movie I invested in that's premiering today, just as regular friends?"
He almost gritted his teeth saying those last three words.
Natalie studied Gabriel's expression. As long as he didn't bring up love or getting back together, they could coexist peacefully.
She wasn't one to hold grudges, especially since she owed him her life.
"Fine."
She sat back in the car decisively, looking straight ahead like she was about to make a noble sacrifice.
At the cinema, Natalie, dressed in a gown, immediately caught everyone's attention, looking as stunning as a celebrity at a premiere.
Soon, a suit jacket was draped over her shoulders, shielding her from the intense stares.
"Don't take it off. You don't want to be trending tomorrow, do you?"
Looking like this, she'd be recognized sooner or later. Wearing it might keep things low-key.
Natalie retracted her outstretched hand and raised an eyebrow. "Then buy the tickets. Which movie did you invest in?"
She glanced around; there were no new releases today.
Gabriel's lies were really effortless!
Gabriel glanced around, his tone indifferent. "I invested in all of these."
Natalie fell silent.
