Chapter 464 Unreasonable Desires

"Natalie, quit wasting your time. Today, she's caught up in a scandal with some celebrity; tomorrow it's with Robert. No one wants a woman like that. Her tabloid stories outnumber yours. If she marries into our Kensington family, we'd be a laughingstock."

Gabriel's gaze swept over Briar, who was standing quietly nearby. His eyes were sharp, cutting through the air.

Briar was extremely nervous, unsure of what she had done wrong.

She tried to look into his eyes, but he had already looked away.

Was it disappointment or relief?

Gabriel's thin lips pressed tightly together, his expression dark and grim.

"If you want an alliance, marry her yourself. My choice is Natalie."

With that, he hung up the phone, a cold aura enveloping him, thick and heavy.

The people around who had intended to come up and chat didn't dare approach.

Seeing him hang up, Briar cautiously came over, looking at his expression carefully, and whispered.

"Mr. Kensington, would you like something to drink?"

Gabriel glanced at her, his lips parted slightly, his voice icy to the extreme.

"Go tell Francis to stop targeting me."

Briar was stunned for a moment, blinking, "I don't understand what you mean."

Gabriel looked up, meeting her eyes. The coldness in his gaze was powerful and intimidating, making Briar tremble.

"Unrealistic desires."

This sentence was directed at her.

He had instantly seen through Briar's thoughts.

It was like a slap in her face, burning hot, with nowhere to hide.

To her, Gabriel was her unrealistic desire.

Her eyes instantly reddened, tears slowly welling up, and she turned and ran away.

The people around watched this scene with pity, their sympathy for Natalie now extending to Briar.

Natalie hadn't noticed the commotion. After sitting with Robert for a while, she went off to chat and socialize with others.

They were all familiar faces, so there was no awkwardness.

After drinking a bit, she felt somewhat hot and wanted to get some fresh air.

She smiled at Robert, "I'm going to the restroom, excuse me."

Robert nodded politely and led her to a hallway, pointing to one side.

"At the end."

"Thank you."

Natalie walked over, the stone walls of the hallway echoing the crisp sound of her high heels.

Just as she reached the corner, she heard a woman sobbing inside.

"Why are you crying? Even Gabriel, who is disabled, doesn't want you. What use are you?"

A sharp female voice rang out, filled with bitterness and mockery, and a hint of smugness.

The speaker was Briar's half-sister, Yasmin.

If she hadn't been married, Briar wouldn't have had a chance.

She both resented Briar's incompetence and mocked her uselessness, while also feeling relieved that Gabriel didn't fancy her.

Natalie paused, frowning, thinking there was no way to avoid it. She wasn't someone who couldn't face others, so she walked directly to the other side of the hallway.

She could see the two similar-looking women standing there.

Waiting for them to notice her and leave.

But they didn't.

Briar was biting her lower lip, crying in grievance.

Yasmin stood with her arms crossed, imposing, reaching out to pinch Briar's waist hard.

Briar didn't even dare to move, clearly having suffered such bullying often.

She didn't even have the intention to fight back.

Natalie stood there, and they didn't notice her.

She could only helplessly continue watching.

She wasn't intentionally trying to eavesdrop!

"Yasmin, I'll try harder."

Yasmin sneered, "A woman like you, no wonder Gabriel doesn't want you. You should look in the mirror and see what you look like. You were born out of wedlock, so you can't fully belong here. Without our family, you wouldn't have a place in this world."
