Chapter 232 You Dare to Kneel
Everyone looked at Natalie, who was the center of attention, with envious eyes.
Victor strolled over to her with a grin.
Natalie turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "Is this part of the plan too?"
She didn't recall this bit.
Victor chuckled, looking all calm and classy. "Nope, not at all."
Then he squinted a bit.
He spotted Charlie coming down the stairs from the other side and his tone got lighter.
"But I think I know what's up."
"Who is it?" Natalie asked, following his gaze.
She was a bit surprised.
Charlie was looking sharp in his suit, his smile oozing charm, making it hard to ignore him.
He was holding a big bouquet of vibrant roses.
The message was clear.
He walked towards Natalie, eyes locked on her, full of affection.
Natalie was a bit stunned.
Running away wasn't an option anymore.
People around them started whispering and chatting.
Tonight was full of surprises, one after another.
Not far away, Lillian's face went pale as she watched.
Everyone's attention was on Charlie.
Natalie kept her cool, standing there casually, watching him approach.
Her eyes flickered.
Charlie walked up slowly, looking a bit nervous.
Everyone was on the edge of their seats.
This was clearly a setup for a proposal!
"Is Mr. Walker going to propose?"
"What a twist!"
"But doesn't Mr. Kensington also like Ms. Clark? Why else would he give such expensive gifts earlier?"
"Both guys are great. Who will Ms. Clark choose?"
Seeing Charlie right in front of her, Natalie couldn't hold back anymore.
She couldn't let this get worse.
Everyone was watching them.
With a quick glance, she saw Gabriel returning through the crowd.
His cold eyes were fixed on them, sending chills down her spine.
Natalie was slightly startled, unable to think too much.
She took a small step forward, looking at Charlie with a slight smile.
Charlie raised the bouquet of roses, just about to speak, when Natalie softly interrupted him.
With a half-smile, she spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear, half threatening, half warning.
"If you dare to kneel, I'll break your knees!"
Charlie's body trembled violently.
He felt a chill all over.
The joy in his eyes instantly disappeared, replaced by a hint of gloom and dejection.
Indeed, Natalie was right; Charlie was here to stir things up.
"Mr. Walker." A cold yet trembling female voice suddenly came from the side.
It was Lillian.
"Mr. Walker, isn't this joke a bit too much?"
She had seen that in his heart, from beginning to end, there was only Natalie.
At this point, she couldn't hold back anymore.
Even the usually composed Lillian had a moment of losing her cool.
It was surprising.
Charlie paused, not even noticing Lillian.
Her words were just background noise to him.
He smiled, reluctantly speaking under everyone's gaze. "Happy birthday, Natalie. I wish you all the best."
Yves couldn't help but laugh. "Charlie, your birthday wishes are quite special."
Victor shot him a cold glance, and Yves fell silent.
Everyone quietly waited for Charlie to continue.
But there was nothing more!
Natalie took the bouquet, smiling with satisfaction.
"Thank you, I really like this gift."
Charlie lowered his head slightly, hiding the disappointment in his eyes.
Soon, Yves shifted the attention elsewhere.
Natalie took the opportunity to grab Charlie's sleeve and leave.
No one noticed Lillian's mixed look of disappointment and relief.
In an empty room, Natalie let go. "Charlie, are you trying to cause trouble?"
Charlie, with his nonchalant demeanor, showed a hint of sincerity. Clearly, Natalie's reaction had hurt him a bit. But not to the point of being completely discouraged.
After all, this was just the beginning!
"I just wanted to surprise you!"
Who knew she would detect the slightest hint and nip it in the bud?
Today was such a great opportunity.
But alas, it was wasted.
"Surprise? You almost scared us to death!" Natalie glared at him, crossing her arms.
Because they were so familiar, there was no need to hold back.
So she spoke bluntly.
It wasn't to intentionally embarrass each other.
But they were impossible. Instead of wasting time with her, it was better for Charlie to turn back in time.
Charlie's face showed a lazy, charming smile, exuding a devilish allure. "You stopped me in time, but next time I won't be so obedient."
Natalie was instantly furious. "Mr. Walker, I'm nothing like your previous girlfriends. Why are you so fixated on me?"
His previous girlfriends were obedient and cute, completely opposite to Natalie's style!
Could it be that he wanted a change of taste?
Charlie's expression stiffened slightly, then he laughed. "How can those women compare to you? I never had real feelings for them."
Natalie wasn't interested in hearing his long speech, and now wasn't the time.
She raised her hand to stop him. "I'm not interested, Mr. Walker. We've known each other for so many years, and our relationship stops here."
"You're jealous!" Charlie said firmly.
His eyes sparkled.
Natalie was speechless.
How could she strike a blow to his confidence without hurting his pride?
Natalie brushed her hair. "Forget it. I'm going back down."
As soon as she turned around, she was pulled back. "Your zipper is undone."
