Chapter 421 Ulysses
Robert pressed his lips together, his eyes glinting with a cold, steely light.
When the car arrived at the hospital, they stayed inside while Elijah went in.
Less than five minutes later, Elijah called.
"Ms. Clark, we've got him!"
Natalie's eyes narrowed as she heard another voice pleading in the background.
A stranger.
Robert took her phone and asked, "Did Lonnie send you?"
Straight to the point.
So, he suspected Lonnie, too.
"No, it wasn't Mr. Caldwell!" The voice was sharp and frantic, as if trying to hide something.
But just mentioning Lonnie had already given everything away.
Without hesitation, Robert pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
"Catch Lonnie, don't let him get away."
The person on the other end hesitated for a moment.
"Mr. Kensington is here. He got to Lonnie before we did."
Robert's eyes flickered. "Got it."
He hung up and looked at Natalie.
"Looks like Mr. Kensington already knew the target. He moved faster than we did."
Natalie's eyes flashed.
She had been with Gabriel these past few days and had no idea he was investigating this, let alone that he had found the mastermind so quickly.
But it made sense. Gabriel was never one to sit back and do nothing. After suffering such a loss, how could he not take action?
He must have been investigating from the start.
"Want to go see?" Robert suggested.
Natalie smiled. "No, take me home."
She wasn't interested in a small fry.
She was waiting for the big fish to take the bait.
Robert nodded, instructed the driver, and then got out of the car himself, heading into the hospital.
Since they had found the mastermind, there was less to worry about.
But Natalie felt a lingering sense of unease.
In the business world, it was all about the distribution of benefits. The capable got more. How had it come to life and death?
Assassination, car accidents, silencing, hiring hitmen?
Could someone go that far?
Soon, they arrived at Gabriel's house.
When Natalie got back, Jagger was already there.
He greeted her cheerfully, "Ms. Clark, I made you some coffee. It's delicious and won't make you gain weight!"
Natalie wasn't in the mood. She shook her head, then suddenly remembered something. "When did you get back?"
Jagger smiled. "Mr. Kensington had to go out, so he sent me back to make sure you wouldn't worry if you came home and didn't see anyone. Isn't he thoughtful and considerate?"
Natalie couldn't help but roll her eyes. Then she frowned. Gabriel had gone to find Lonnie himself?
She didn't say anything, and Jagger handed her the coffee.
"Ms. Natalie Clark, Mr. Ulysses Clark's birthday is coming up. Mr. Kensington is taking it very seriously. He said Mr. Ulysses Clark is his most respected elder, a model in the business world, and a life example. He's been stressing over the birthday preparations so much he's almost pulled his hair out."
Natalie frowned, her attention diverted.
"My dad's birthday? Why does he care?"
Jagger kept pace with her. "Mr. Kensington is thinking of your filial piety and wants to show his respect. It's a big deal, and he doesn't want to mess it up."
Natalie smirked. "Tell him not to worry. My dad appreciates the thought."
"If the gift isn't thoughtful, how can Mr. Clark be happy?"
Natalie paused. Was he trying to figure out Ulysses' preferences?
He was asking the right questions.
She smiled. "My dad has three main hobbies: fishing, counting money, and scolding people!"
Jagger nearly tripped. Watching Natalie's decisive figure, he shivered. Those hobbies were impossible to cater to.
