Chapter 405 The Person Who Uses Backdoor Connections
Within moments, a cool, distant female voice answered the call.
"Who is this?"
"Ms. Clark? This is Jagger, Mr. Kensington's new butler. I accidentally messed up your makeup while cleaning your room. Mr. Kensington said to throw it all away and buy new ones, but I can't understand the labels."
Jagger's tone was quite pitiful, but before he could finish, Natalie cut him off sharply, her voice cold and intense. "Don't you dare throw anything away! I'm coming back right now. If you throw out my stuff, you're all done for!"
In the study, Gabriel's brows furrowed as he listened to the conversation at the door.
Was it really that simple?
Natalie wasn't short of good things to use. Her makeup was custom-made with high-end formulas tailored to her skin, costing seven figures. Where would they find replacements?
Two foolish men!
Natalie couldn't afford to dwell on her reluctance to return.
She grabbed her bag and, with Elijah in tow, headed back to Gabriel's house.
She paused for a few seconds at the door.
The spot where Wendy had been bleeding when she left was now spotless, as if nothing had ever happened.
As long as they didn't cause trouble, she wouldn't pursue the matter.
After all, Gabriel had saved her so many times. If things got too tense, it would affect the Kensington family.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a chubby man came running out, panting as he reached Natalie.
"Ms. Clark?"
He squinted with a smile, "I'm the new butler, Jagger. You are so beautiful, much more than any movie star. Your beauty is truly unique, indescribable."
Natalie stood there, stunned. She was at a loss for words, caught off guard by the sudden compliment from this chubby man.
Behind her, Elijah finally lost his patience. "Have you said enough?"
"This must be Ms. Clark's bodyguard. No wonder, with such a strong presence. I heard you've won several national championships. My goodness, you're amazing."
Elijah was speechless.
Natalie chuckled, "Where did Mr. Kensington find you? You're unique yourself."
With that, she walked inside, her ears practically ringing from the chatter.
As soon as she entered, she saw Gabriel sitting in the living room, looking over some documents. His cold, stern demeanor was as composed as ever.
Hearing the commotion, he looked up at her, his eyes softening, a gentle smile forming on his lips.
"You're back?"
Natalie frowned. How could he act like nothing had happened?
Before she could speak, Gabriel quickly explained, "Julia has been sent away. She won't be coming back. I'm sorry, but she is my mother. The doctor said she might have some mental issues. Once she recovers, she'll be sent to a nursing home. I promise nothing like this will happen again."
His voice was low and hoarse, filled with apology.
Despite his calm exterior, there was a hint of tension that was impossible to hide.
Because Wendy was his mother, he couldn't deal with her as he would with others. He couldn't be ruthless.
All he could do was ensure she never appeared in front of Natalie again.
Seconds ticked by, feeling like an eternity.
Natalie let out a light laugh, "Mr. Kensington, you're quite reasonable. Aren't you mad at me for provoking her?"
Gabriel's lips twisted in self-mockery. "Everything you said was true."
He had no grounds to blame her.
Natalie smiled softly, "Since it's all in the past, I won't hold her responsible. It's over."
Gabriel's head snapped up, his eyes flickering with a dark light.
He hadn't expected it to be this easy.
Behind him, Jagger clapped his hands excitedly, unable to contain himself. "Such good news calls for a celebration! I just made some delicious food that won't make you gain weight. How about a taste?"
