Chapter 409 Sleep in One Room
Natalie sniffed the air. "What kind of soup is this?"
"Seafood soup, great for your skin and won't make you gain weight!" Jagger immediately recommended his soup. "Want to try a bowl?"
Feeling a bit hungry herself, Natalie nodded. "Is Gabriel resting?"
"He's in the study, having a meeting. It's hard to find someone as hardworking and wealthy as Mr. Kensington."
Jagger sighed as he went to the kitchen and brought out two bowls of soup.
"Elijah, want to try some too?"
Natalie took a sip and found it quite good. She looked at Elijah. "Give it a try, Jagger's cooking is pretty good."
Elijah turned his face away, his expression fierce and unapproachable.
"Let him drink it himself. I don't want any."
Jagger used all his strength to push Elijah to the dining table. Exhausted and sweating, he looked at Elijah.
"Don't be shy. I just drank half a pot myself."
Natalie couldn't help but laugh. After finishing her soup, she stood up.
"Don't waste good food. I'm going upstairs to rest. You guys should get some sleep, too."
Jagger waved at her excitedly. "It's hard to find a girl as beautiful, generous, and lovely as Ms. Clark, who also understands how tough it is to run a household."
Natalie quickened her pace up the stairs, not wanting to look back.
Jagger turned to Elijah, ready to shower him with compliments, but Elijah frowned, downed his soup in one gulp, and walked away without giving Jagger a chance.
Jagger looked at the empty bowl and smiled smugly. "Elijah, even the way you drink soup is more impressive than others. No wonder you're a world champion."
If Jagger weren't Gabriel's butler, Elijah would have thrown him out long ago.
Passing by the study, Natalie paused for a moment, hearing Gabriel's rich, magnetic voice as he conversed in his meeting. She couldn't help but be momentarily entranced.
That voice was like a giant pearl rolling in a clear spring, captivating and melodious.
It was truly beautiful!
She didn't go in to disturb him and instead returned to her room. Before bed, she video-called Ulysses, then Victor, and Yves.
Elijah, as usual, prepared to sleep at the door with his bedding.
Just as he was about to close his eyes, he heard a commotion nearby.
He opened his tired eyes to see Jagger skillfully laying his bedding next to Elijah's.
Their bedding styles were completely different. Elijah's was professional-grade military gear, while Jagger's had several layers of pink cushions underneath, with a matching pink pillow and blanket set.
Jagger's setup made him lie higher than Elijah by half a person.
Elijah looked like he was sinking into his bedding.
He glared at Jagger with sharp, fierce eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm protecting Ms. Clark. After all, you're a man, and if you can't control yourself. Ms. Clark is delicate and can't take care of herself, and Mr. Kensington can't stand up, so it's my duty."
Jagger explained with a friendly and sincere smile, completely ignoring Elijah's increasingly angry and fierce expression.
"Don't worry, I don't snore or grind my teeth."
He didn't wait for a response, closed his eyes, and fell asleep immediately.
Elijah gritted his teeth, looking at the instantly asleep Jagger. He wanted to kick him away.
But with over three hundred pounds, he couldn't move him.
So, the two men slept outside Natalie's room.
Within ten minutes, Elijah was startled by the deafening sound of snoring next to him.
Jagger was sleeping soundly.
The snoring gradually settled into a steady rhythm, but the volume was anything but low.
