Chapter 468 Interests First
As soon as Robert finished speaking, the atmosphere between them fell silent.
The lingering silence was intertwined with the gentle breeze.
Natalie stopped in her tracks, not saying a word, and looked at him.
Her gaze was slightly cold.
Robert waited a few seconds, but no answer came. He wasn't about to let the atmosphere stay this cold, so he smiled.
"You heard me right, and I won't take back what I said."
His eyes were serious yet straightforward, his tone relaxed.
"I mentioned before that I'd be more than happy for you to consider me a new flame, to deal with Mr. Kensington and the others. This isn't just a polite gesture; it's my wish, Ms. Clark."
Robert's smile was just right, neither humble nor arrogant.
Natalie's eyes showed a hint of confusion, bewildered.
"Did this make you misunderstand something? I didn't mean to."
"Of course, I know you wouldn't intentionally create trouble or gossip. I saw an opportunity in this situation and thought I might have a chance to win your favor. Although I won't pursue you with the same aggressive tactics as Mr. Kensington, I'm very serious about my feelings."
Looking at Robert's sincere eyes and open expression, Natalie froze.
She stared at him blankly, their shadows elongated under the night lights, frozen in place.
Robert's earnestness and humility suddenly warmed her heart.
Being with him might be a win-win situation given their equal backgrounds, perhaps someone Gabriel couldn't stop.
But she didn't want to use herself as a bargaining chip, using Robert to make Gabriel give up.
That wouldn't be fair to him.
She was silent for a few seconds, feeling heavy, and spoke calmly.
"Mr. Williams, thank you very much for your..."
"Ms. Clark, I'm not rushing for an answer; I just want you to know my intentions. I'm going to pursue you."
Robert's eyes held a slight smile, reflecting a myriad of clear stars.
Natalie's heart trembled slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. She smiled politely.
"Mr. Williams, let's keep business as business. Don't let personal matters make you lose your temper."
Failure shouldn't interfere with her making money!
Robert couldn't help but laugh, his expression somewhat helpless.
"Of course, business first."
Natalie wholeheartedly agreed, "Business first!"
With their consensus reached, the pressure on Natalie's heart vanished.
Back at the hotel.
Natalie packed up, preparing to return to Rottloe the next day, and Ulysses agreed.
After all, if they didn't go back soon, the fish Ulysses was raising would be eaten by Yves.
The next morning.
Mike ran over in his pajamas, looking absolutely adorable, so cute it melted hearts.
Upon hearing Natalie was leaving, he insisted on taking the same flight, refusing to be persuaded otherwise.
Robert had urgent business to attend to and had to leave, leaving Mike behind.
It was unclear whether it was intentional or unintentional. But not seeing Robert first thing in the morning, Natalie felt relieved.
After yesterday's sudden confession, meeting today would be a bit awkward.
Gabriel had arranged the flight, and of course, he was coming along, already waiting in the hotel lobby.
He wasn't in a wheelchair, sitting on the sofa with a cane beside him, his expression cold and imposing, a serious vibe.
And Jagger stood nervously nearby, holding a dog.
What was going on?
Natalie nodded politely at him, showing no extra emotion.
Gabriel paused, struggling to stand with his cane, as usual, "Let's go."
Jagger said, "Good morning, Ms. Clark. This is Mr. Dixon's dog. He asked me to bring it back to Rottloe. If you don't like it, we can leave it."
The dog shook its head, panting and staring at Jagger, seemingly understanding human speech, looking extremely shocked.
