Chapter 266 He Regretted It
Gabriel's eyes snapped open, taking in the all-too-familiar room. Shock washed over his face as he bolted upright, not even caring that the needle in his hand was still in his vein. He was ready to yank it out and make a run for it.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Blair's voice, though old, carried a weight that made everyone freeze. His face was pale with anger.
The butler and maids quickly moved to block Gabriel, none of them daring to say a word.
Gabriel's expression was dark, his voice firm. "I'm going to find Natalie."
"She's already dead."
Blair's words hit Gabriel like a ton of bricks. Everyone knew it, but he just couldn't accept it.
But deep down, those words struck a chord with the truth he was desperately trying to ignore.
His eyes, red and bloodshot, met Blair's. His face was a mask of cold determination. "She's not dead. She can't be."
His voice was icy. How could he leave Natalie out there, lost at sea? He had to find her, no matter what.
He tried to get up, but Blair signaled the butler and maids, who quickly restrained the weakened Gabriel, forcing him back onto the bed.
"You're not well enough to go anywhere."
"Move!" Gabriel's voice was like ice.
Blair's frown deepened. "I know you feel the Kensington family owes Natalie. If she were alive, I wouldn't stop you from doing something for her. But she's gone. There's no point in risking your life. Do you want the entire Kensington family to fall apart? Do you know that while you were searching for her, rumors have been spreading, and the Kensington family is becoming a laughingstock?"
"I don't care. She's not dead. I have to find her!"
He needed to tell her how much she meant to him. He needed to apologize and confess his feelings.
No one knew how much it tore him apart when he heard about Natalie's accident.
Blair looked at his grandson, the pride of the family. Gabriel was brilliant, decisive, and ruthless, a regular on the Forbes list in just a few years.
But now, he was willing to throw it all away for a woman.
"Guard the door. Don't let him leave this room!"
Blair ordered, turning to leave. He couldn't let a woman destroy the Gabriel the Kensington family had worked so hard to build.
Time would heal everything. Eventually, Natalie wouldn't matter anymore.
The room was cold and silent. No one dared to leave without permission, but they also feared Gabriel's fierce determination.
Everyone could feel Gabriel's deep sorrow, a sorrow that was palpable and heartbreaking.
He suddenly curled up, a look of vulnerability and deep regret crossing his usually stoic face.
"I regret it, Natalie. I regret the divorce."
Blair, standing at the door, paused and looked back at Gabriel with a complicated expression.
The room was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. They had never seen Gabriel like this. He had always been confident, proud, and invincible.
But one woman had brought him to his knees, making him admit his regret.
It was clear that Natalie meant more to him than anything else in the world.
