Chapter 296 A Date Between Divorced Couples
Natalie raised an eyebrow and stepped out of the car, eyeing him like he was walking to his doom.
Felix strolled over. Gabriel was driving a low-key but pricey Cayenne today, and it was totaled beyond recognition.
Meanwhile, his Wrangler Jeep was completely untouched!
But he still couldn't wrap his head around how they had collided.
Just looking at the mess, he felt a bit guilty.
Usually, you could settle this kind of thing with some cash, but since it was Gabriel, things got complicated!
Gabriel's dark eyes locked onto him, his voice icy. "Do you want to handle this ourselves or get others involved?"
Felix pressed his lips together. Was there even a choice?
"The latter."
Gabriel's gaze stayed cold as he pulled out his phone. "Then I'll call your dad."
Felix's face went stiff, and he quickly stopped him. "No, I choose the first option!"
Gabriel put his phone away and tossed the keys to him. "Go get my car fixed. Now."
"Now?"
Felix held the keys, unsure whether to stay or go.
Natalie was still in the car; they were supposed to catch a movie later.
Seeing his conflicted look, Gabriel's face grew even colder. "What are you waiting for?"
Felix didn't dare delay and turned back to apologize to Natalie.
Natalie looked on, confused. Why was Felix getting into Gabriel's car?
At that moment, Gabriel adjusted his clothes and slid into the driver's seat next to her.
Natalie looked at him, her tone chilly. "Mr. Kensington, did you get in the wrong car?"
Gabriel's expression stayed calm, his earlier anger hidden.
With a hint of warmth in his eyes, his voice was smooth and pleasant. "No, he insisted on fixing my car and asked me to take you. Weren't you going to see a movie?"
With that, he started the car and casually drove towards the biggest cinema.
Despite knowing each other for so long, they had never watched a movie together, never done anything couples do, let alone what married couples do.
Thinking about it, he felt bad.
Natalie paused, looking at him like she didn't recognize him.
"Mr. Kensington, isn't this pointless? Have you ever seen a divorced couple go on a movie date?"
How ridiculous!
Gabriel's face stiffened for a moment, but his smile quickly returned.
"What's the big deal? Divorced couples can remarry," he said, his tone cautious but firm.
Natalie looked at him silently, her gaze emotionless.
Gabriel didn't turn his head but could feel Natalie's cold, distant stare.
For the first time in front of a woman, he felt like he was sitting on pins and needles, yet he found it bittersweet.
A cold, self-mocking laugh echoed in his heart. He had brought this upon himself.
"Stop the car." Her voice was icy.
Gabriel's jaw tightened slightly, his voice gentle. "We're not there yet."
Natalie gave him a deep look, then without hesitation, turned to unbuckle her seatbelt and opened the door.
The moment the cold wind rushed in, Gabriel's face turned extremely grim.
He suddenly slammed on the brakes and simultaneously grabbed Natalie, who was halfway out of the car.
In the midst of the fright, the bitterness in his heart grew even stronger.
The sense of helplessness spread through every nerve, gradually permeating his entire body, making every cell feel this weary resignation.
Even the hand holding her was trembling slightly.
She was willing to accept a date with Felix, willing to preserve the dignity of the guy who wanted to add her on Facebook.
But when it came to him, she would rather risk her life jumping out of the car than stay with him.
His facade of calmness finally broke, his eyes filled with pain and regret.
"Natalie." His voice was low and hoarse, utterly humble.
