Chapter 313 Not on the Same Path
Gabriel's award speech was a total snooze-fest, but everyone clapped politely anyway.
Natalie rolled her eyes on the inside but kept a gracious smile plastered on her face.
When it was time to hand out the award, Gabriel took the trophy and certificate from the usher and passed them to Emily.
Emily was a bundle of nerves. Gabriel was the one giving her the award!
How could she not be thrilled?
In the business world, a single move from him could shake things up. If she was with him, she'd never have to worry about social events or dinners again.
She carefully took the certificate and trophy from Gabriel, summoning all her courage. Her face was flushed with shyness, but her eyes were a mix of nerves and excitement. "Thank you, Mr. Kensington. I've heard so much about you. I hope we can work together someday."
Gabriel gave her a cold glance and stayed silent.
During the group photo, Gabriel was supposed to stand to Emily's left, keeping him away from Natalie.
But he purposely stood to Emily's right, nudging the actress aside and positioning himself between the two award recipients with Natalie.
This move left everyone scratching their heads.
The celebs in the audience stayed quiet.
Natalie stood there, trying hard to keep her smile. With so many media folks around, she didn't want to cause a scene.
But in her head, she thought, 'Great, now Dominic can't ride on my coattails!'
As soon as the ceremony wrapped up, Natalie couldn't hold back anymore. She skipped the celebration party and made a quick exit. Luckily, no one followed her.
Gabriel was surrounded by people, chatting and exchanging pleasantries, watching Natalie drive away.
"Mr. Kensington." A sweet, gentle voice called from behind. It was Emily.
She stood there in a thin dress, her chest and back exposed to the cold wind, shivering. She really did look a bit pitiful.
Hearing this, Gabriel looked at her with deep, indifferent eyes, as if trying to remember who Emily was.
The people around Gabriel immediately caught on to Emily's intentions.
But everyone was single, and given Gabriel's status, it was no shock that many women had their eyes on him.
It was Gabriel's first time presenting an award to an actress, so it wasn't out of the question that something might happen between him and Emily. Everyone smiled knowingly and made their exits.
Soon, it was just Gabriel and Emily.
Emily walked forward weakly, biting her lip, looking like she had something to say but couldn't.
"Mr. Kensington, my manager got called away by the company and took my clothes with him. Could you give me a ride?" She touched her bare arms and shoulders, looking fragile and pitiful.
Gabriel's eyes were cold and dark. He took out his phone and called Brad. "Bring the car around."
Before Emily could even smile, Gabriel's voice was cold and emotionless. "No, it's not on my way."
With that, he turned and walked out.
Emily's face froze, her lips pale, watching Gabriel get into his car and leave.
Inside the car, Gabriel's face was blank. "Where's the photo?"
Brad tapped his phone a few times and sent Gabriel a picture.
It was a group photo of Gabriel and Natalie on stage with the other two award recipients.
But after cropping, only Gabriel and Natalie were left in the center.
Gabriel's lips softened slightly, pleased with the photo.
But then, his eyes darkened.
In three years of marriage, he and Natalie didn't have a single photo together.
How many important moments in life had he missed?
