Chapter 40 Some Kind of Relationship
Upon hearing her name, Natalie was momentarily stunned. She didn't want to entangle herself with Gabriel at all, but she couldn't help it. After all, everyone's attention was focused on her.
The awkward relationship between them, being in the same frame again after their divorce, now added a certain mysterious veil to this coincidental collaboration.
Gabriel also didn't anticipate this; undoubtedly, it was Nathan's arrangement.
While Natalie was still hesitating, Gabriel had already approached her. His demeanor was cold as he bent down and extended his hand, inviting Natalie to dance.
All eyes were on them.
Clearly, Natalie couldn't refuse the invitation this time. She couldn't leave any negative impact on the beginning of the collaboration, which was detrimental to the partnership.
Victor glanced at his sister with concern. Natalie smiled faintly and reached out to hold Gabriel's hand.
The people in front of them automatically made way, and Natalie lifted her skirt and walked forward with her head held high. Gabriel felt the coolness of her palm in his hand. In that moment, he suddenly realized that they had been married for three years and had never had a wedding. He had never even taken Natalie's hand before. This was the first time they held hands.
With just a glance, Gabriel discovered that Natalie's fingers were long and beautiful, like a work of art. They were warm and delicate, and he instantly remembered them.
The band started playing, and the music filled the whole hall with a long and pleasant melody.
As Natalie's hand rested on Gabriel's shoulder, their eyes met in the air. Gabriel's deep, mysterious gaze focused on Natalie's face, and his hand rested on her slim waist. For a moment, Natalie felt extremely uncomfortable.
They had never been this intimate in their three years of marriage, and it was unexpected to have this moment after their divorce.
But in just a few seconds, Natalie regained her composure. She swayed her supple waist to the rhythm of the music with a hypocritical and indifferent smile.
Natalie's graceful dance steps, her confident posture, and her modesty completely captured the audience's attention, while the music on the stage masked their voices.
"You can't dance, huh?" Gabriel's voice was deep and cold, almost enticing.
Natalie replied, "Depends on who I'm dancing with."
She spoke bluntly, without any mercy.
Gabriel furrowed his brow slightly. They moved in sync, stepping to the beat. The music suddenly changed, becoming more cheerful, and Gabriel exerted a slight force in his hand as he held Natalie's hand tighter.
"I didn't know you were still doing business. Is it Clark Group's idea to collaborate with Nathan, or is it yours?" Gabriel's voice carried a hint of temptation.
Natalie twirled gracefully under Gabriel, and then they collided again.
"You don't know much, but I don't need to tell you," Natalie said mockingly.
Married for three years, Gabriel had never wanted to understand his wife. So after the divorce, was there any need for them to say more?
For Gabriel, Natalie was just a passing figure in their marriage for three years.
But for Natalie, it was an unforgettable lesson!
The light shone upon them as Gabriel's handsome and refined appearance left all women astonished, while Natalie's skirt gently fluttered with her dance steps, her graceful figure and stunning movements captivating everyone present. In that moment, if time had stopped, the people in the room would have held their breath for a second.
All eyes were on them as their movements complemented each other perfectly, yet they lacked any passionate interaction. To be more precise, Natalie had no intention of cooperating. She just wished for the song to end quickly. Being so close to Gabriel was making her uncomfortable!
Meanwhile, Gabriel's gaze was fixated on Natalie, with a calm curiosity in his eyes. As the music transitioned, reaching its conclusion, Gabriel leaned forward while Natalie took a step back and tilted her head to cooperate. Her slender swan-like neck was refined and delicate, but in the next second, Gabriel didn't move back, and Natalie instinctively straightened her back, moving forward with the music.
Their lips unexpectedly met, one warm and soft, the other cold and indifferent. The music's drawn-out final notes instantly came to an end, as if highlighting the frozen moment in time.
