Chapter 212 The Lost Ring

Gabriel's face was all serious, but after a beat, he gave a nod. "Alright."

He agreed to the compensation she wanted, even though it might be a bit of a hassle. But weirdly enough, Gabriel felt a sense of relief. She accepted his offer. He wondered if that meant there was still a chance for them.

Natalie wasn't too shocked by his agreement.

She got up and walked behind the desk. "I'll have someone coordinate with the Kensington Group. Let's keep this cooperation under wraps for now."

Gabriel was on the same page; the project was just kicking off, and it was best to keep things low-key.

Judging by Natalie's vibe, she was probably about to ask him to leave.

Things were just starting to smooth out. Better to avoid any drama. He thought for a second and stood up. "Then I'll head back..."

Before he could finish, his eyes locked onto a bronze tree sculpture behind her.

If he remembered right, this bronze tree was designed by some famous sculptor, mixing different styles into a modern indoor piece.

It was one of a kind and super expensive. But what really got him was the branch sticking out diagonally.

The part near the window was lit up by the outside light. It was a diamond, which was on his lost wedding ring!

His breath caught. His face tightened, filled with shock. The thing he regretted losing so much was right here.

Natalie noticed he hadn't left and glanced up. "Mr. Kensington, we've covered everything."

Seeing his drastic change in expression, Natalie frowned a bit.

Gabriel took a few steps forward, standing in front of her, his lips trembling slightly.

The pressure in his chest made him feel lost, like he was sinking into an abyss.

His deep eyes locked onto Natalie. Her instinctive reaction of resistance, confusion, and disgust made his eyes darken.

He reached out but touched a pair of rings on the bronze tree branch.

Natalie noticed his move, her face instantly turned cold.

Without a second thought, she pushed him away, and Gabriel stumbled back. His fingers were now further from the rings.

Gabriel's eyes revealed pain and complexity.

Natalie's voice turned cold. "Mr. Kensington, we've discussed everything. You can leave now."

If he stayed any longer, she feared she wouldn't be able to control herself.

Those suffocating past memories were the last things Natalie wanted to recall.

She couldn't suffer for a lifetime just because she liked Gabriel.

"Natalie, why is my ring here?" He asked her with difficulty. His resonant voice carried a hint of hoarseness.

The joy of finding it again hadn't even reached his eyes, Natalie's cold rejection was already mocking his wishful thinking. "Mr. Kensington, this is my ring, not yours."

In their marriage, he gave her nothing except those two marriage certificates.

The ring was bought by her. The pain was hers too.

Gabriel's lips pressed into a tight line. The deeply hidden pain and regret in his eyes surged overwhelmingly.

"I'm sorry." Besides this apology, Gabriel didn't know how else to make peace with their past.

Natalie coldly curled her lips, extremely disdainful. "There's no need to say these useless things. Mr. Kensington, I see your sincerity in agreeing to my conditions."

She thought, 'That's enough. We're all adults; don't say anything sentimental; it's worthless. Let's just compromise for the sake of interests. Kelly was right, who would turn down money?'

Gabriel's eyes flickered with complex emotions.

Natalie's coldness was truly heartbreaking.

Gabriel looked away, staring at the familiar yet unfamiliar ring. The pair of rings were brand new, glinting in the sunlight.

Gabriel asked, "How did it end up with you?"
